It shows that we will only sign a player that is going to improve the squad and add something to an area where we are lacking. Not just signing a player for the sake of it and then having him stuck there on a potentially high salary, not being utilized after this season. The players we want are either unavailable, or the selling club will not play ball. Watkins (although, arguably not our first choice) would be a good addition and would bring something different. For example, pace and the ability to stretch the oppositions back line if they dare not play with a low block against us. It really is that simple and a common sense approach from the club. There really is no point in signing any old striker just for the sake of it, short term as they have PSR implications that would potentially prevent them from getting who they really want, when the opportunity finally arises in the future. Frustrating but absolutely the right thing to do.

Nwaneri is a brilliant talented youngster. Arteta needs to make sure that he and MLS are protected, not too much playing time coz they're still really young but not too little either. They shouldn't become perpetual bench warmers, they're far too good for that
