Thank you for this video! My husband is a truck driver for a very large company that I won’t say the name, but everyone would know the the company. He gets so little respect it’s crazy to me. He’s underpaid and overworked, almost no free time, only one full day off per week, he gets home late on his go home day, has all of the following day off and then has to go to bed early the next day to get up and go back to work at 3am. It leaves almost no time to do anything fun. Sometimes it seems like the company works against him, the places he gets sent to, he often ends up waiting for hours, to get loaded or unloaded, losing money, watching people not doing their jobs, while they treat him like trash, calling him “driver” instead of his name, which is on his name tag. Of course he’s not allowed to help load or unload because of liability. A lot of those people don’t understand that and have been known to call him lazy. He’s always getting put in a different truck, where other drivers have trashed it and left it that way for him to clean up. Believe me, I hear the stories on a daily basis and it breaks my heart. Because I can’t help him. All I can do is try to make our home nice for when he gets to come back. Then there are all the regular drivers out there that don’t understand what they should be doing when they’re around semi. It’s ridiculous what he has to deal with in traffic and the stupid things people do. And if he makes a mistake or something happens, he could very easily lose his job. he’s been doing this for over 20 years, amazingly with the perfect driving record so far. But I worry about him constantly. Thank you for speaking out for the good men and women who are doing a very difficult job. Just a sidenote, the average lifespan of a truck driver is only 61 years. The national average lifespan for a man is 76 years. I wish everyone could hear this video and start treating the truck drivers. They know with a little more respect.

I started running in 1968. Tried other things, but always went back to trucking. As I said before, you had to be there to understand it!!! The truckers today don't have a clue!!!

@@matcampbell3552 Yes, driver. This video gives me goose bumps as I too am one of the old hands that drove these rigs when they were new. I drove a 69 Pete cross-country hauling produce from The West Coast to points East - Chicago Produce Market, Hunts Point, Cleveland, Atlanta, and others. I am also old and worn out, but not out of it yet. I have one more chapter left in my life. Texomatic Motor media is my favorite U-Tube creator. I wonder if the old horse ever got restored, as mentioned in the video?
