The rod of discipline in the Bible is referring to the way a Shepherd gently guides his sheep with a rod. Adjusting them and keeping them on a path. This is what is meant by Rod when disciplining children.
@Horse_AteneoDeManilaUniversity22 күн бұрын
What the Bible means by the “rod” is the staff that the shepherds use to guide their sheep and not to spank them

Corporal punishment is no different to child abuse and it is illegal in many countries and that number is thankfully growing. Don't wait for it to be outlawed, be civilised and choose for yourself that you won't stand for child abuse anymore.

I was beat as a child. I can clearly remember the fear and the pain but would never be able to tell you what I was to have learned from it. Beating on children is disgusting, don’t do it.

If you have to hit, pinch or bite your kids to get them to listen you have failed as a parent. I also want to compare the difference between the two the person defending pinching their kid is frantically trying to make him understand, she is frustrated because she has clearly lost control but he’s calm and because of that he’s in control

Why does it sound off key??
@mastersloseymusic39283 ай бұрын
I think the common ground we can all meet on is that we all want any child to grow up well-adjusted and not be an absolute tumor on society! The issue, however, is how do we go about the right way to discipline them to get them to that point? Every kid is different and they'll respond differently to whatever kind of discipline is applied to them. Some are easier to raise than others, some of them may need more attention than others and the list goes on. As far as I can see, the line between corporal punishment and actual physical abuse is totally ambiguous at best, no two people are in agreement with where that line is, if it even exists. The science has been clear on this all across the board for so many years: Corporal punishment of any kind just doesn't produce the meaningful results that we're looking for and has more potential to cause harm in later development. I'd be hard-pressed to find any decent doctor that would even have a positive view on corporal punishment, let alone advocate for it.

I was spanked growing up. It was out of love and I am thankful for it. One question I have is how some feel about when it is administered either pants down, meaning bare bottom. Some of mine were that way.
@cdawg921824 күн бұрын
You were abused, it's OK to be upset about it ( it's now illegal in my country to do). Mine were pants down too. It was disgusting and traumatic. It only hit me when I had my own child how vile it truly was to lay a hand on someone so innocent. Those studdies he mentions are true, children's nervous systems can't differentiate between a beating and punishment either. Our little ones deserve better.

If Christians disagree with an unconstitutional law, should we disobey it out of conscience, understanding we might be fined or jailed for doing so? The average Christian doesn't have the means or knowledge to challenge it in court. Because of conscience, should we disobey the unconstitutional law while we advocate for and vote for better lawmakers, or while legal process unfolds (if the law has been challenged in a lawsuit).

If you’re a good parent you should teach it’s not appropriate to hit anyone for any reason no matter how angry you are. Also it’s unfair reason 1: they don’t understand why it’s wrong. 2: if they do understand why it’s wrong they don’t appreciate why it’s wrong. 3: if parents mess up no consequences even if there parents are present. 4: your kids could take this as a appropriate response to bullies.

All authority is derived from force and force is violence. Respect for authority is a lesson that children ought to learn in the home because if they don't, they must learn it in the world, and the world is a much more cruel environment than the home. Also, if "it's not appropriate to hit anyone for any reason," please explain how you'd like your life, the life of your family, and, to a lesser extent, the security of your property defended from an armed intruder at 2AM.
@Demonoicgamer6663 ай бұрын
@@General-Grievance someone breaking into your home is an exception, unless someone is trying to hurt, steal or kill you there’s no excuse to hit anyone. My mom spanked me once as a child when I was 5 and I didn’t respect her for it and she never did it again both because it didn’t help and I wasn’t responsive to it. Me and my mom are pretty close and she never used corporal punishment after that event when I was 5, when it came to my dad using corporal punishment he learned pretty quickly the rush of letting his emotions out made him abusive so he stopped the worst thing I heard he did was hold my brother against a wall because that’s what my brother was doing to me so he promptly stopped.
@cdawg921824 күн бұрын
@@General-Grievancegtfo. What a dumb reason for why you think harming an innocent child as a fully grown ass adult is OK. It isn't. Most places it's illegal for good reason.
@General-Grievance24 күн бұрын
@@cdawg9218 so just to clarify, you think that raising a hellion with no respect for anyone above them is better than ever having to resort to corporal discipline? Personally, I'd love my children more than that. I wouldn't hate them enough to send them off into the world completely unprepared to face the sober realities of life. Also, spanking isn't illegal. That's an absurd statement.
@cdawg921824 күн бұрын
@General-Grievance hitting your child is in fact illegal where I'm from. Learn better parenting strategies and emotional regulation. Don't beat your children, how could you ever lay a hand on your own baby 🤢.
@laurieanne30078 ай бұрын
A child's BRAIN does not know the difference between a "spanking" and abuse. The brain responds the same way in either situation. Also the rod is not a tool to hit people with. It is a tool used by the shepherd to correct and guide his flock. Have you EVER heard of a shepherd BEATING sheep?? NO. of course not. You people are delusional and need to educate yourselves. Simple logic: People that hit you and HURT your body do not LOVE you. Read that again. We don't beat our spouses, our pets, or anyone else. Why would you think it's okay to hit a child? THINK. God gave you a BRAIN. USE IT. Why would you hit a kid instead of disciplining in better ways that will TEACH him concepts of life? kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHmzZIeoireta8ksi=9-Pj0KsaluyRL7uc

I really need to just say- No Words. I have enjoyed every single podcast. You have inspired me, even at 79, to live out the Word. I have a thirst for the Word, and unfortunately have few avenues with people who share my thirst. Therefore, to see my son-in-law and grandson have that thirst and actually have a platform on which to share, is huge to me. It almost makes me want to move to TN so I could have someone who would put up with my endless questions and thoughts. Thank you for being such a bright spot in every single week for me. ❤❤

I just finished listening to this podcast. As always, it was promoting truth in a world which is promoting the opposite of truth. I appreciate the effort you guys have put into sharing truth and reminding people what truth is. Everything you discussed is truth supported by God's Word which is not popular today. We live in a sick and demented world of people who have lost their way and don't know the simple answer to truth and peace and joy and all good things. You are doing your part, and that's all you can do. THANK YOU for being the voice in the wilderness calling people to truth and happiness and contentment. ♥

I found this very interesting. There were some good points made like pour yourself into your elections of locals even if you don’t think you have a choice nationally. However, I could tell that panel members didn’t agree on how to handle the presidential election- and rightfully so. It’s a tough call. I have my thoughts on it as well, but wisdom tells me to hold off and see what materializes over the months ahead. God help us all! ❤️
