Why does this actually feel like it could belong somewhere in Super Mario 3D World?

Is it just me or is double tonguing easier on high brass?

The Stars Spangled Banner has always been the worst national anthem in my opinion because it’s been created more for people who have a soprano voice range and negates every single other voice range that ever exists otherwise. For example, I have never heard ANYONE who has alto voice range sing this song nor have I heard anyone who has anything lower than an alto voice sing it ever. It feels like whoever wrote the music has purposefully ignored everyone who does not have a higher voice range and as a result made this national anthem impossible for most people to sing along too.

When played like this, the theme feels like a triumphant military romp. The brass just gives it the right energy

Don't know about you, but it really ruins the anthem for me when professional singers don't strictly adhear to the sonority sequencing principal and almost glissando the start of some words in correlation with it. Gosh am I right lol

It's actually a terrible time to be an American, but go on. Regarding the song's range, I'll just quote my third grade teacher: "... Gave proof through the night [jumps up an octave] That our flag was still there. O, say does that star spangled [jump down an octave] Banner yet wave..." Regarding the range of the song, I'll just quote what a singer I recently saw doing some karaoke was almost certainly thinking to himself: "I don't CARE what key the song is in! I don't CARE how miserable it will make people if I sing in a different key from the backing music! I'm just gonna sing this song MY way, and I'm not doing ANYTHING wrong!"

Drop the sheet music for 17/8 Star spangled banner
Ngl, these other countries really do be having better national anthems though…
@fizz32215 күн бұрын
I feel like that has to do with how other nations treat their anthems compared to the US. Anthems often are a song for the nation's people, and are often used as rallying cry for the country's citizens. As with the United States, it's just a song that gets butchered by famous celebrities and is rarely sung right. But hey, that's my opinion.

This is extremely useful! I also have tongue tie. When I was around 17-18 I completely damaged my throat through intensive trumpet practice for the exact reasons you describe (the pressure was all in my throat) and ended up quitting for 10+ years. Similarly, I struggle to play reliably above the stave for the same reasons you demonstrate but am improving due to the wealth of KZbin videos such as yours teaching how to play efficiently. Also, why do I feel like I’m learn trumpet in South Park?!

As a bass player I don’t get why tubas don’t transpose like us
@oskarboman16 күн бұрын
Mostly for the sake of preferance. Personally, i feel that non tranposed gives a clear reference to where in the register the tubaist is playing. Especially when taking into consideration that tubas are thought of as a deep instrument, therefore being well bellow the f clef is "natual". There is probably a true reason why, some prefer sections transposed with "vb8" others prefer it just written out. I myself prefer written out, but could easily read both as I often play String Bass parts
@jeffphillips106317 күн бұрын
Yes! We trombones play all clefs and even….transpose! Just know that we can’t actually glissando between every pair of notes that exist. Forgot to mention trumpet mouthpiece selection in relation to transposition and humidity.

To be fair, you did play them on C trumpet. If you were a REAL trumpet player, you would have played William Tell on E trumpet, just as Rossini intended.
