Question if I use a same background video loop in all of my projects which is about a 1GB. Copying that file into every project will eat up so much of my hard disk space. So what do you do about that scenario that may be common across all your project. For example your KZbin opener?

Hi Joshua, I noticed you use a tablet instead of a mouse. Have you been editing like that for a long time? Are there any major drawbacks to using a pen? Do you use it just for editing or for everything? I'm experiencing some wrist and hand pain, and I'm currently trying a trackball mouse, but I'm not enjoying it very much. Thanks for your great videos!

This was incredibly helpful. I've been stuck trying to start my documentary on thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail (6 months worth of content) for almost a year! This is a very insightful video to help organize my workflow and start creating a story. Thank you!

Hi Joshua, well done! „Boys and their toys…“ I have however a question about the signal routing of the „scratch audio“ from the cam. You mentioned, that the signal isn‘t routed into the cam, as „others“ do, but transmitted to your mixer (I expect a slight delay) and then after mixing be transmitted back( with another slight delay, I assume) and THEN into the camera. But way later you speak about redundancy and mention, that you have a backup of the „scratch audio of the cam mic into the camera“. My first Question would be, if the main workflow is to route all audio signals into the camera (I guess the Ursa has 4 audio channels) and then you can skip the syncing process? Or is everything relying on the DEITY TC1 and you sync the recorded material from the mixer (more channels, more bit?) and the „rest“ is just redundancy? I was just curious, how to treat the transmission delays. May be a bit to nerdy question… Anyhow greetings from Bremen, Germany.

I listened to you once about how you spoke about editing, especially when you said jumping between tasks and then returning to editing after meetings is destroying productivity, then I immediately subbed your channel. Then it resonated with me, and I knew you, you knew what you were talking about. Makes logical editing sense, thanks for this, Joshua.

Hello Joshua, thank you so much for sharing your keyboard shortcuts and the brilliant workflow that goes with it! I have one crucial question: how do you manage to directly select a left or right side of an edge of a clip (using shift-ctrl-cmd-2 or shift-ctrl-cmd-3 through your stream deck as I noticed on the video but they are not addressed in the shortcuts file you shared)? What is the official title of those commands? I can't find them in Keyboard customization?

this didn't work for me unfortunately, I have already a heavy grade on my footage using cineprint 16 which has a CST in the node tree so when i went through the settings changes it just blew up my footage. do you have any tips on what i can do instead? my main issue is when exporting and airdropping to my iphone the color changes slightly by getting a lot warmer.... any help would be much appreciated and thank you for your video!

Amazing Video: I love the out labeling idea. I have a question. Which sound on the camera do you on the F8? Do you monitor only on cam mic or do you monitor the sound that you are feeding to the camera from the F8?

I’m a bit confused, do you in fact just need to skip the first bit and just change the settings in davinci? Also, if you film using a monitor, do you infact need to put the monitors colour space in or still the cameras? I’m using the atomos ninja V which I believe is Rec 709?

Hey Josh, I’m curious how you get from breakdowns to themed breakdowns? I’m currently mainly using premiere and I’m trying to adapt your method of organizing. I currently use a kind of sloppy subclip method. The best way I can think of would be to go through the selects stringouts, label the clips with themes like “dolphin” and then use the search bar to find everything labeled dolphin and transfer to a new timeline. Am I overlooking an easier way? Do you incorporate subclips into this workflow or are your selects the full clip out of camera?

Great video. The only improvement I'd suggest is Sennheiser 416's all around. I have rode shotguns which sound great but the Sennheisers have that little bit of reach and clarity the Rode's do not. I lived in Washington DC, LA, and NYC and the only issue with your rig is I'd be worried about RF and terrestrial microwave hits. I understand you are recording in the wireless but by your description you have a ton of data management at the end of the day. I appreciate it, but all that could add an hour when you could be eating, in the pub, or sleeping. But all said, love your thinking and bag set up. Really appreciate the video send for the audio guy. Good teamwork. I've been a career cameraman but now I'm forced to do one man band for 90% of my work. I miss having an audio person. If money were no object, I'd have a simple audio bag built that was mostly hard wired so you could just grab it out of a case if you had RF issues. Washington DC is the worst city Ive ever shot in for RF. London is probably bad too. It's all the spying. Good luck. I'm gonna watch other videos of yours.
