Yes we know what the tree represents. Rose has a bit of a whacky sense of humour. Our previous video shows more about the tree and how it was one of the centres of the struggle for better working conditions and fairer incomes for shearers in the 1890s. There is quite an informative set of displays nearby including a tribute to the 13 who went to jail for their commitment to the struggles. It is a very moving tribute indeed.

Good morning to you both. Have just come upon your 4 part videos. Have subscribed. Enjoyable to watch. Rose was cute and happy. We were on the Bounty cruise , Pacific Encounter, 13/7/24 to 27/7/24. Interesting to compare your experiences with our cruise. I’m assuming it was the same date as yours. Norfolk Island was disappointing not to be able to land. But we knew the odds that this may happen. We celebrated our 44th Wedding Anniversary on the 19/7/24 whilst on board. We have cruised trouble free on over 14 cruises , on different lines, but this cruise to us was the absolute worst ever. The Pacific Encounter overall maintenance was appalling, I could list all , but far to many. You are probably aware of them. Inside our cabin had many issues, my Husband is a carpenter, he had to repair many broken things the best he could. The food was disappointing , menus only changing on the 4 th day in rotation. The Entertainment, we have seen years ago. We had P& O excursions booked in every port. They were disorganised and horrible . We were abandoned on one , the bus never returned to pick us up in Nuku’Alofa, Oholei Beach and Hina Cave. The owners called in the Army to help collect all the passengers, but not enough seats on the bus, 27 of us were left abandoned on site. Terrifying.We had to phone P&O to help us .We were last to return minutes before departure. Like yourselves we were very diligent in our health practices at all times. We got sick the 2 nd week, had to see the ship’s Doctor, we stayed in our cabin to protect our friends and other passengers. Doing the responsible thing. Arrived home on the Saturday, by early hours Monday morning we were at the emergency dept of the Hospital. Have since heard the ship was full of Whooping cough, Covid, and Influenza A , reported cases. We were very ill afterwards for 4 weeks. I saw that Rose was not well at the end, hope you faired better than us. Disembarking was a nightmare on the Saturday took us hours to get off. Missed our transportation . I know I sound grumpy. Pacific Encounter never again. Princess and Royal Carribean 👍 We are grey Nomads in our caravan also. Love it. ❤❤ I will watch your other Videos, Cressbrook Dam being the next one. Have you tried Lake Moogerah? Nice spot good amenities . I feel better I have vented.
@Explornations2 ай бұрын
Yes we were a bit disappointed with a few things on the cruise, the food being one, but being P&O we didn't have high expectations knowing that it is basically the bogan boat. but it went to where we wanted to go. We had great experiences with the tours we went on and had no issues. we heard the woman in the next cabin coughing like a walrus and did our best to stay away from crowds. we both ended up with the flu afterwards and can assume Rose picked it up onboard and then gave it to me a few days later. we had had all our vaccinations up to date so we were not too bad compared to most. Thanks for watching our vids. We are part way into our trip to Central North Queensland in our caravan and have a few more episodes of that in the pipeline. Sorry gotta say the reason the tracks wash out is from erosion from the 4x4s. Time and time again I see shows people talking up the wonderful wilderness yes destroy it on the way in and out.
@Explornations5 ай бұрын
Thank you for that. We do stick to existing tracks formed by old forestry roads or the QPWS, but as you point out, many do not. Our local 4WD club has a strong relationship with the QPWS and HQ Plantations who manage the National Parks and state forests respectively in Queensland. The tracks are installed and maintained for forestry management and are used for fire fighting and logging and the like. Clubs are even given special access to drive tracks and report on conditions so they can better direct their maintenance for access safely by their own staff in 4wd vehicles. I certainly agree that irresponsible off road driving can cause environmental issues and we do call this out in some of our videos. People leaving camp fires unattended that can start fires, toilet paper (and worse) left in pristine areas as well as plastic waste left by campers (not all in 4wds) are my pet hates. We even go to the trouble of taking a Porta Potti and rubbish bags in our car so we don't need to leave a mess and will often clean up after others. We actually pick up other's poo in one of our K'gari videos. Thank you again for your comment. It reminds me to make sure in future videos that we continue to call out poor behaviour. cheers Col

@@GregoryRyan-f6o that was MV Natone section of Inskip Point. This area has made it in the news recently with a few near shore land slips. This is nothing really to worry about unless you are camped or parked too close of course. There was a couple of caravans lost a few years ago. We were in that spot just a week before that. As my surgeon reminds me, you are not getting a 20 year olds knee. You are getting two chunks o metal separated by a piece of plastic. The operation to install these pieces is quite brutal and it can take many months for the swelling to go. You will get numbness around the knee as there are nerves that are cut and muscles split. Apart from the bones being sawn through. Sounds a bit frightening but it is well worth it for the end result.

Hi Col & Rose There is certainately a lot of history in the old river. Apart from pre settlement/first nations history there are great stories of the cedar cutters rafting logs at Dunethin Rock and floating them down river and out the moutn to be picked up by passing ships. The early settlers trying to carve out a living in isolated spots along the river and the fact that the river was the only "highway"in the area and is the reason why most of the early houses faced the river.
