Love the into about ISSA, but dont sell yourself short with it being a simple evaluation. Bonnie a key element to your assessment is that you are the spokes person for these potential sharpeners customers. A pass has to represent that a customer should be able to rest assured that the sharpener knows the basics on what they are doing with their sharpening process. Simple testing actually can tell alot about the basics. A person without the basics can't event begin to deal with advanced issues or advanced shears. I would even love to see the test on the tip are smooth enough to not scratch or cut a persons neck using the thumb skin test.

I usually test for that Todd and comment on it. It's a key element that people forget. They were fanatical about it at Jaguar.

I shuddered when Bonnie put that blade up to her neck. I feel like I cut myself just looking at shears sometimes!

It's the clipper blades I get cut on the most.

I’m confused. Good equipment, but junky scissors? Is this just to demonstrate the importance of a good edge?

This is to show how cheap shears should be sharpened if you are doing the sharpening certification. Don't try to sharpen cheap scissors like you world expensive ones. You might want to check out the other full length videos on this channel and the @BonikaShears channel to know what is going on.

Very proud of both of these guys. Age 16, Ricky could over the years become one of the country’s great sharpeners if he continues to learn and strive to improve.

I talked to the sharpener and he told me he honed all shears on the inside. I explained some shears should not be honed like these blue handled one. He seemed to have a a ha moment. There seemed to be a language barrier, I couldn't place the accent so I asked him where he was from and Mystie and I nearly fell off our chairs when he said, "Chicago." I'm sending him his certificate. I hope he understands what he did wrong. He wanted to argue anita the adjustment because he attended the IBSA a few years back and they said correct adjustment was the way he had them. I told him the adjustment needs to be whatever makes the shears cut. Manufacturers will disagree on the adjustment. Comment below if we need a video on adjusting shears.

hmmm 29. If a shear had to be shortened 4mm, I'm wondering if the rideline work ended up washing out the tip so the sharpener opted to shorten to remove washout? The other interesting would be how much the rideline dropped into the hollow grind? Was there excess edge steel removed causing a dip in the pivot area. A sign of excess rework.

Learned he immediately dropped them point down as he got them out of the box and the tip bent. I’m sure his resharpened of a new shear will be perfect. He should have called and got a new shear. Poor guy. I think it all rattled him.

Maybe the heat warped the metal from taking 1/4 of an inch off.?

You have every right to be. Can't get any of my grandchildren interested in sharpening. They just like the computer business work.
