the guy saying "pffffft" at 4:55 is pretty hilarious! Obviously he wasn't impressed with diving at 200mph...

The Cessna 190 and 195 had/have "crosswind" landing gear that allows them to caster thus allowing the pilot to land while yawed for any crosswind. Sometimes they actually work! When the don't, things get exciting. Most owners have them removed.

I do believe the man giving the talk is the builder of the red Mew Gull replica. Excellent talk however Henshaw took the Western route to Cape Town, not the Eastern.

oh wow, .. need to get me one of those starters to get me going in the mornings. Beautiful bird - I always loved that design with the center of the lower wing exposed.

You are just the man I want to ask a question of, what overall allied fighter (Scout) aircraft do you think was the best the SE5A or Spad 13. Which one would you of flown back then and why. Ive taken this survey for a while now and can't seem to get an overall consensus. Hopefilly you have some insight on this matter. Thanks Mark Cassidy PHX AZ

Watch the second version of this video. It gets into the intricacies of starting the Falcon.

My apologies to the first video rendition of starting the Fighter. This one is perfect, shows the intricacies vs. turning the key. Nice job.

Fun to watch. I understand that Rolls Royce is not helping the various Falcon engine users in the world. Only item to make this video better would be a short clip of the magneto switches being used, as they are located on the outside of the fuselage (port side) so the 'erk' could see them. In addition....a starting mag?

I really enjoyed the presentation which included a description of the RAF (Royal Aircraft Factory) where my maternal grandfather John Kenworthy started his career alongside Geoffrey de Havilland in 1912. He was the Chief designer for the SE5 working with the project lead Henry Folland & test pilot Major Frank Goodden who sadly crashed & died in early testing. It's amazing that it was only in 2015 that it was discovered that this original aircraft actually saw active service, shooting down a German Fokker D7 on the penultimate day of the war. Only visited Old Warden once to watch it fly and it only feels like yesterday! A special thanks to Pilot Paul Shakespeare.

Clouston and his companion came close to death due to carb icing conditions on one of their record breaking flights. The chances were against them avoiding the mountains...they just had to keep circling in the fog, unable to gain height. Horrendous.

I imported a fairly accurate model of this aircraft into CFS 2. Seems to have the same buttery smooth handling of the original. I follow the advice of your Gladiator pilot regarding takeoff and landing. Failure to do so often ends in a spectacular crash. When flown in simulated combat visibility and maneuverability are very good. In a dogfight none of the high performance aircraft in the game can touch it and I'm just an armchair pilot.
@manmonkee8 ай бұрын
Actually the visibility from the cockpit is a LOT better than I imagined it'd be. I always wondered what an Inline engine on the Gladiator would have resulted in. The Italians installed one on a single CR-42 and the performance hike nearly put it up with Monoplanes of the time.

A Fokker EIII couldn't do that, you need ailerons which the EIII didn't have, Immelmann was named in honour of Max Immelmann, but he never flew one.

No ear protection! I fly a Camel and have operated a CAMS rotary on the ground display and from that experience my hearing barley passes the medical exam for my pilot license. WEAR EAR PROTECTION WITH ROTARY ENGINES.
