If I understood you correctly, the rockwool is laying on the gravel and in between you're going to have an air pocket, right? Why did you choose for this option, rather than to sandwich the rockwool directly to the underside of your flooring? Wouldn't that cause the heat from the radiant heating system to not be able to travel downwards better? Nice short video btw! Straight to the point.
@talbotlife8 күн бұрын
Close. The Rockwool sits on the gravel and then we put an air barrier directly on top and then put directly on top of that. Essentially the concrete sits right on the insulation. No air pocket

All I could think of is your poor neighbours with that noise😂. I hope you bought them all a bottle of wine!
@talbotlife2 ай бұрын
Yup it’s noisy for sure and probably annoying. We have great neighbours on both sides and stay in communication all the time. Hopefully there is a future benefit to have a beautiful house beside them with people who are invested in the neighborhood and added value to their properties. Not to mention new fences, drainage, landscaping etc that benefits all. But yes, a pain in the ass for everyone during the build.

We were given a bouquet of flowers once when new neighbours moved in and did a huge build. It was trite in comparison. I hope that communication and a real relationship go farther

@TalbotLife what an interesting - and labour intensive endeavour! I once was considering buying an older home that needed lifting and a new foundation (among other things) but was talked out of it, as they said “you’ll never get your money back out of it.” It was an amazing property and I’ve always regretted not doing that, but now I get to watch you! Thanks for sharing your journey Todd and Rabecca!
