Wow... thanks so much. I will definately make use of this. Like you, I seldom use standard wirings... and there are plenty of diagrams available for those! I am learning and love experimenting even though my wiring chops have a ways to go. On top of that, I'm also dyslexic - so transposing wiring upside down and backwards often leaves me scratching my head! I'd love to tune in as you progress.

I couldn't find a pot and search DIY Layout Creator Pot and this was the first hit 🤣 I'm gonna have to go back and watch again for how to do a push/pull. Wish I knew how to do a blend pot as well...

😂 Apparently the manual has instructions for how you can design your own components and contribute to the program. Pretty sure there is a forum too where you can suggest additions as well.

This looks superb. Thanks for sharing and for taking the time to give such a detailed review Arran. I am damn near clueless with wiring so this will be very useful. I also think having pre-made to scale pickups and pots with wiring runs will be really handy for guitar plans
@adairguitars
@adairguitars Ай бұрын
Thanks Jamie. Wiring has probably been my biggest learning curve over the years, and this makes it so much easier and enjoyable! You could potentially draw in/import the shape of your cavity to scale. Hmm, might try that next. 🤔

Man! Thank you for making this video! I've never seen this tool before. I've always just gathered diagrams/schematics of each "block" I want to implement, figure out the inputs and outputs of each one, then assemble the blocks individually, then connect the ins and outs. This makes it so much easier to plan that all out instead of just winging it like i do 😄

Yep - agreed, it's a really good tool. I used it for my latest over-complicated guitar rewiring project, and made things a lot easier to visualise/plan. Some of the wire options are a bit limited (would be cool to have multi-core cables supported natively) but that can be worked round. And having twin Alegree Chameleon humbuckers (6 wires), a Freeway 3x3-08 switch, 4 push-pull pots, and 2 DP3T switches was probably a bit of an outlier for "normal" use, so I couldn't make best use of its analysis capabilities 😀 Edit: the capacitor values etc can be useful for the "Create BOM" (bill of materials - as you covered) and also "Generate SPICE netlist" - which allows the circuit to be modelled.
@adairguitars
@adairguitars Ай бұрын
I wish I found this a few years ago after exploring the past few weeks. It would definitely be useful to sort out all the options on the Alegree pickups as you said! I’m looking forward to learning more about it.

So I made one today, not off plans but from just the general idea, and it seemed pretty promising. I am making a tighter radius for my type of fiddles. So more curved than a guitar but I may have made it too small because I destroyed my wood. Should have used a test piece because I ruined a nice piece of bocote… Other than probably making it way too tight, my router sort of rocked sideways in a way that I wasn’t expecting. I’ll give it another shot but what a massive failure for my first attempt 😖

I use a cordless drill and the magic of maths to work out roughly how many turns by weight of wire on the bobbin. I did make a jig with a counter but found it was not needed. I have a hand cranked jig my grandfather made and it works fine if a bit slow. I like your machine but I probably won't build one because I'm too lazy.

Excellent Video! This is exactly the route i`m taking. I have many basic tools from years of DIY, which I am now using to make all the jigs etc for guitar making/repair. I came to the same conclusion that having a known straight edge ( Crimson too!) and a set of radius gauges I can produce most of the equipment needed. Thanks for a great video.👍
