Amazingly detailed video and writeup! Question, where can I get the service manual for my 25hp 1998 Mariner? Thanks again, 🤙

@@ATL_Rider79 I would try Mariner’s website. They usually have them for free to download or you can purchase a paper copy to be sent to you. Otherwise, try Mercury’s website. It’s the same engine.

Nice informal mast stepping video.. You covered many of the little and subtle details. I have and O'Day 19. Always raised the mast from the stern. And I always wondered why O'Day chose a deck plate with two pins, rather than one like on my Capri 22. Never thought about raising the mast from the front. With my O'Day 19, I can easily heft the mast up. But on my Capri, I use a somewhat similar bridle arrangement and use the wicker pole as the gin pole rather than the boom as you did. My goal was to have everything I needed to step/unstep the mast stored in the boat. Too bad you don't have a trailer tongue extender so your vehicle doesn't need to go into the water. My Capri trailer has an extension easy enough to extent/retract so my wheels don't even need to get wet. Again, nice informal mast raising video.

A veteran Mercury outboard mechanic told me this- When you seat the new impeller into the cup, add a little grease into the cup and the impeller fins will find the correct direction upon start up.

I have the exact same boat. Based on the O'Day mast raising instructions, those delta attachments were an optional accessory. Wish mine came with them. Once you get everything rigged, you could help the lifting by using a mast crutch at the bow end.
@WanderingWassoms
@WanderingWassoms Жыл бұрын
Thank you for that information. I wish our previous owners had opted for the optional delta plate accessory, or I wish o'day had just included them as they truly look like they'd be very helpful. I'm considering making my own. We will also research a mast crutch. Appreciate you watching our video and commenting!!

I would like to change the water pump on my motor, would you please share the link on the pump kit I need for mine too? Thanks for the instructional video... very clear detailed instructions. I'm picking up my very first (used) boat in a week with a 1999 40HP 2stroke Merc and I imagine it's going to be a pretty similar job, so was great to see you do it first. One question (and I realise this vid's now 2 years old and you've probably already fixed it)... your engine seems to be missing the trim tab anode from just above the propellor... does this model not have one?
