You are welcome. And now something you may not be welcoming so much: unless you removed the existing solder (usually with a copper solder wig strip) and scratched off the coating around the holes for the connector so that new solder has a nice solid base to attach to them.your job was not quite successful...not for long anyway. "Clean them very well" in the video is really not defined...my bad. Just adding solder would be a BAD job.

I would recommend going with 25V and if you go eveb higher there's no problem as long as you can fit them on the board. High breakdown voltage doesn't hurt, but size quickly becomes an issue and people tend to overdo when trying to improve...there's really no reason to go above 25V.

I just wish you would have stayed on subject: Sony XBR-65X930D with bad power ACDP-240. I have the exact AC power adapter that I'm assuming is bad--it heats up to 191 F and the usb connector is partially melted and it has a white ring around the usb edge. The effect is the TV just turns off. So...rather than having a fire start, I was hoping to learn that by replacing the power adapter it would fix the issue. Or if there was another cause. Btw, Sony is selling the power adapter for $280 and another $15 for the cable! Compared that with buying a new Sony 2024 LED TV for about $750. Granted, it maybe a lower model but gain 8 years of updates.

No, we do not have enough data yet to be able to tell what's [statistically likely] wrong based on a single symptom. From what we are seeing so far there are two major issues with this model: failed power board when the whole unit is totally dead and the fuse on the power board is blown (failed power supply) and failed screen, where the unit shows signs of life and responds to power on, but never shows anything on the screen. Your description is clearly closer to the second category, but again we haven't seen enough failure samples to easily rule it there already. You can send the main board to here for testing if you want, it'll be $25 +return shipping at most if it turns out to be working.

@coppelltvrepair
@coppelltvrepair 10 күн бұрын
I can only speculate, I do not know even with decent certainty. Given how many times the failure is the same and that it does not lead to total chip failure I'd say it is either software or a certain fixed address block is being referenced/written way more often than others leading to its early failure.

How much to fix one I have this monitor wo t power on.....
@coppelltvrepair
@coppelltvrepair 14 күн бұрын
There can be different reasons why the monitor is not starting - bad power supply board, bad main board, bad LCD, maybe bad T-CON and maybe bad LED driver....haven't seen all of those situations individually yet, but definitely the first three...so I can't tell you how much it will cost to fix without knowing which one is bad. If you want to have us test and possibly repair the power supply the link is in the video description. If the main fuse on the power is open then the monitor will be totally dead no matter what and the power board will be bad too. Do not attempt to replace the fuse, it is a result, not a source of the problem.

@coppelltvrepair
@coppelltvrepair 19 күн бұрын
My guess is you have a damage to a component in a control circuit for some of the FETs and they do not work in proper mode - usually a resistor or a smaller switching transistor that is semi-burned and changing the activation levels of the MOSFET. Could be also something that was scratched off during work on the board, I've seen both happen at times over the years. Unfortunately can't be more specific. It's one of the things that, when it happens, you are very lucky it didn't cause immediate failure the moment the board was put to work....but then you have to find it and that can be rather difficult without at least a good working board to compare against, let alone a scope with known wave forms.

I have no power at all on the cold side. On hot side I've got 315V on pin 7/8 of the ic. Also on pin 1/4 of the transformer. I replaced the known a6069h ic, and the resistor r7900, checked the caps around it and the zener diodes Iam out of options. Maybe transformer broken? Dps-162kp-1
@coppelltvrepair
@coppelltvrepair 19 күн бұрын
Hardly the transformer. Not impossible, of course, but not likely and relatively easy to test. When transformers fail they do one of 2 things: short out (burned insulation on the copper wiring leading to short and wire shortening leading to lower resistance/higher current, which in turn lead to overload and burnout) or burn out break the circuit, which is established with a simple meter. Anything else, while always possible, is very unlikely.

Besides that and the main fuse (T6.3AH250V) located at FP801S, do you recommend any other parts to be replaced? Oh, one last thing... the power button on the bottom middle part of the screen frame looks like it shorted out. In this video we see that this white silicone (potting compound?) around the PFC MOSFET was removed. The PSU seems to get returned to the customer without this compound restored. Since I have the same PSU repaired, I am asking myself what this white compound is used for. When they put it on vertically mounted resistors or on on axial capacitors mounted laying down on the PCB the purpose is clear: To prevent the effects of vibration or to prevent that these components move. However, the MOSFETs are mounted to a heat sink and should not move at all. Also, in the video we can see that there is a diode mounted to the same heat sink which did not get any potting compound at all. So, my question is. Do they put the compound to the MOSFETs for some else purpose? E.g. to limit the damage if the component blows? Or to prevent dirt accumulation between the high voltage legs?
@coppelltvrepair
@coppelltvrepair Ай бұрын
I will not answer the question on why Samsung is putting silicone on the MOSFETs. It should be them who should answer that question so there is no doubt for making guesses. I will say, however, that they have been producing power boards for decades before starting to use the said silicone and those older boards often lasted a whole lot longer before failing compared to the new ones Which is one reason we do not put silicone back after repair.

Thank you for your video. I got a replacement M60-C3 power supply for a Vizio TV that a neighbor gave me and the TV worked for at least 5 years after that. In May of this year, I saw that part of the backlight near the top and bottom edge would be off, like a dark shadow in a 4 inch or so area across it. I pulled the plug for some seconds and plugged it back in and that reset made it work again. However that was a red flag of it failing and within a handful of weeks, it was dead. No picture. So I found a replacement board and bought it and replaced it and it's been working again for about 6 weeks. However, twice now in the past two weeks, I've seen a similar part of the display near the top backlight off and again unplug and replug and it resets. But I am highly nervous that this probably refurbed board is soon to fail. I wrote to the selling company and sadly they only have 30 day warranty. I wrote to their tech support and I'm waiting for a reply. I haven't looked at the caps yet. I honestly don't remember with my old board, if the caps were bulging. Not that I noticed. Is it possible that something else is putting stress on the PS board to cause it to fail? Update: A tech from the shop for the PS board is saying that it's possible there could be some failing in the LED driver board or Main board causing the symptoms, which, in turn, can cause the PS board to also fail if not repaired. Update 2: I was able to get an LED Driver board for a very reasonable price. I plan to replace that first when it arrives.

As far as possibilities go nearly everything is possible. I do not think there is anything that presses against the board in the TV nor do I think this has anything to do with capacitors. You got two old boards that have worked about the same amount of time and one of them may or may not have been reconditioned and it may or may not have been done properly (if at all). So it is not surprising to get about the same life expectancy with about the same failure symptom out of them.

As you can tell by the messages at our website we are currently in vacation mode. I can't tell from the top of my gead if this could be caused by the panel, but I am quite certain there are plenty of Samsung models from the QN series - if not all - that power cycle when the LCD has gone bad. This was not the case in previous generations, not to mention the LCD panels did not go bad nearly as often until about 2015-2018. All major OEMs figured that LED strips and panels are the two things not worth replacing, so those are the two things that now tend to fail the moat. Though, again, that can be model specific.

It should be fairly cheap on ebay so you may want to replace it as means of elimination. or go for a new TV altogether - replacing the LEDd is a PiTA and first time users often mess it up.

99% of the time when capacitors are bad it is visible and easy to tell. Therefore in your case it is more likely the problem is in the main board.
