I bought two Techniclick II (PD235T) pencils lonnng ago, one for home and one for school. Two weeks ago, one of them failed to advance the lead, even after thorough cleaning. I decided to replace them (and increase my 0.5mm 2B lead supply) and was surprised to find it cheaper to order from New York (including shipping to Las Vegas) than to buy in a local store. The new pencils are PD105T, work very well, and of course the lead is top quality.

I’m a 2B person myself. I worked for an office supply store from 1995-2002 and we kept many grades of lead in stock as well as red and blue lead. Pentel is the best for me.

This is an amazing pencil and the price can’t be beat. I bought a .5mm .7mm and .9mm each for $5. Each one came with a block eraser and a tube of HB lead as seen here. I use 2B lead but have plenty of it on hand.

You need to use a Papermate Clearpoint with Pilot NEO X HB lead the stuff will transform it into a rocketship P205 is to good too but the best pencil is still a Quicker Clicker from Pentel without the rubber grip.

This video triggered my Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Instead of buying only 1 mechanical pencil, I ended up buying 3 pencils which happens to be on the list and I don't even use mechanical pencils.

These "electronic" leads could be some much darker, more graphite-rich leads that would make for more legible writing for early drum scanners/photostat machines. Computers were in use (at least in the US) in bigger companies in the early 1960s, so your great-grandfather's company probably had one (or access to some time-shared one). Or, and that is something based on my foggy memory, there was a type of punch tape/punch card reader that accepted cards/tapes with black dots instead of holes, I think these were used for like surveys or even school tests. And you used special pencils to fill in these surveys, so computer can read them. These "electronic" leads were probably used for that.

There is a mechanical pencil retailing for 9.90 *today* that I bought back in... I want to say 2013. It's the MUJI aluminum hexagonal mechanical pencil. It's been continually within my reach for over a decade now. The eraser sucks, and last year the clip broke straight off --- after a *decade* of use, mind you! Other than that, I've had no issues. It's so simple. There's no fuss. I decided I wanted to "upgrade" a couple of years ago and got myself a Pentel GraphGear 1000. Been disappointed. It feels heavy and clunky in my hand. Recently the grip section started feeling wobbly and the spinning thing for the lead indicator had become very loose. I twisted around on some bits at random and seem to have fixed it. Have no idea how that happened or why, but it made me lose even more confidence in the pencil. Also got the Pentel P205 mechanical pencil because everyone raves about it; I really don't like it. It feels too light and cheap, but also clunky, somehow? I keep coming back to my MUJI aluminum hexagonal. Why fix what ain't broken, right? Well, I guess I'll have to get another one since the clip broke 😂

Look into the Faber-Castell Grip 2001 Eraser Cap, it solves all the tip protection issues you mention here. It fits the rotring perfectly and It also doubles as a high quality eraser.

Really good video. I did not learn how to study or take notes in school. I may have missed that day in 5th grade when that lecture was given. That subsequently had an effect when I went to college, but I was old enough to know, if not how or what kind of learner I am, but at least to know that if I didn't know something, or understand something, no amount of "studying my notes" was going to change that. I learn best from lecture with questions (often asked by others), hands on (unless it is new software), and getting things wrong. I do not memorize well, or at all. Thank you friend for the great video. You should use one of these notebooks on your other channel. I think the Otter cover would lend its self well to CoC. Also, you didn't show the rest of them.

Did you know that there is a mechanical pencil from Rotring Company called Rapid Pro 0.5? It has 2 legendary characteristics, which were She was ahead of her time. The nib comes out mechanically, or the pen lengthens the nib without pressing the pen from the back - just pressing the pen while writing, the nib comes out automatically. Secondly, the Chubb feature is the nib protection feature that is present in the Zebra pencil called Dell Guard to protect the lead from broken .The strange thing is that no one ever talked about these amazing features. Even the company itself did not disclose the matter.. really strange.

@ClutchSituation
@ClutchSituation Ай бұрын
In your defense, you should have been able to get out of your chair no matter what. I mean, how sad is an adult who can't handle a child getting out of a chair? Teachers in the audience, you can solve a lot of classroom management concerns by: 1) letting a kid stand or 2) giving a kid an out-of-the-way place to pace. Notice what these techniques have in common: they require surrendering of a little bit of control.

Unrelated question: Bought a Nero Orenz years ago. .2 mm. When trying to refill it, the metal tip became clogged and no metal wire will free the tube. Is there any substance that will dissolve graphite? The American office claims no responsibility for the clog. They do not sell replacement tips. The other alternative is to buy a .2 mm drill bit from McMaster and try to free it that way. A .5mm is easy to clean out. .2mm not so much. Any suggestion would be helpful. The pencil is useless with graphite blocking the needle tube.

As a true American, I want to state my opinion without actually voting: My favorite is the Pentel Quicker Clicker, in .5 mm. Lately, I have been using Alvin's Draftmatic in 0.9 mm lately for work notes though (and would like to say how disappointed I am that they messed with the color and knurling of that fine pencil).

A great choice. When I lost my black Rotring 600 in .9mm and couldn't find another (still haven't found another), I picked up a 500 and it was a revelation that such an inexpensive pencil could feel so right in my hand.
