where did you get your final bottles from?
@bottomfeederfood9 ай бұрын
I got them from packmyproduct.com.au. The shipping can be a lot so I make sure to buy a bunch of other jars and things I need all in one order. It still works out cheaper than buying crappier versions from chain stores.

This is such a great video. Thanks! After you have strained the fruit peel and left the essential oils to breathe for two weeks, is it still suppose to smell a bit of alcohol?
@bottomfeederfood9 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! Yes, it might still smell a bit of alcohol, i have found adding ylang ylang essential oil seems to help with this. This is in the original as well. Let me know how you go!

I take it you peel the prawns before cooking, and use the shells and heads raw for this?
@bottomfeederfood Жыл бұрын
Great question Nathan! You can actually use raw or cooked prawn shells and heads. As you may have realised I used shells and head from cooked prawns, they were pre-cooked from the fish shop. I might add that helpful detail to my recipe.

Hahaha, I know, I know. 😭Just giving you options! Either way there's only so many batches you can make. A shortcut is to just use essential oils, but the cost of initial purchase if you don't already have a stash is more than just giving into Aesop really. Maybe one for the recession though?

I strained the alcohol from the citrus peels, but after a week, it just dried up :( Whyyyy? How do I fix this? Should I just add more rubbing alcohol?
@bottomfeederfood Жыл бұрын
How much did you have in the jar and was it warm weather? Yes, you can add a little more rubbing alcohol to rehydrate it. I might add a caveat in the written recipe, thank you for the feedback!

If you cook prawn heads in boiling water for a minute or so, then drain, then toss the heads in plain flour, then fry in very hot oil till crispy they are a delicious snack.

is there any use for the left over prawn shells afterwards?
@bottomfeederfood2 жыл бұрын
You could roast the shells till super crisp and pulverise them into a shrimp powder of sorts. Could be used like stock, to flavour mayo or even less powdered in a furikake or as a crunchy garnish.
@jon1312 жыл бұрын
@@bottomfeederfood oh interesting. I'll give that a try.
@TheDistortedbrain2 жыл бұрын
@@jon131 Since they're fried before, they won't be powder when you pulverized them, even after you roast them. They will turn into paste, use them to make delicious stir fried veggies or fried rice..
