He is right, once the avalanche starts it is just going to get worse. The churches are following the so called wisdom of the world, and forgetting that sin is still a very big deal with God. Faith and Repentance are two sides of the same coin. When we are justified, sanctification begins by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit makes the church Holy, so to redefine sin will never make it in God's book. The Word shows us our sins, then we must confess that God's ways are right, and then, ever be aiming toward repentance. With that aim God will deliver us from our sinfulness over time.

You do realize that the problem with rejecting Biblical authority did NOT begin with ordaining homosexuals. It was very evident in ordaining women in even more direct opposition to Biblical commands. If you keep ordained women in the GMC you are just doomed and powerless hypocrites. If you are going to stand for tradition, stand for all of it. Otherwise you still are not Christians following Jesus.

I grew up in the Methodist Home in Waco, TX. I graduated from Southwestern University (a Methodist School) in Georgetown, TX. My wife and I have belonged to the same Methodist Church for 40 years, having held all Church offices and been Conference Delegates twice representing that Church. We have left that Church because The United Methodist Church has left us. Our Bishops and DS and Current pastors look at the Book of Discipline as mere suggestions, not set-in-stone doctrine. Many of our friends have left the UMC altogether. We are now looking for a GMC to affiliate with in our area.

Ms Penny Cost is doing great things for the Methodist Church - inspiring new discussion, making the Methodist Church more accommodating and less dictatorial.

I believe in everything except the part about gay/lesbian. I'm quite conservative and prolife but I know people who were born gay/lesbian and never were assaulted as a child yet they still feel that way. I couldn't imagine (being straight) told I had to never have sex with the only person I'm attracted to. I know the old testament says how wrong it is but that's the biggest thing to me. They don't have to be allowed to preach or be leaders in the church but saying they can't be with one person for life that they are only attracted to is difficult for me to grasp. I think transgender is mental illness but homosexuality isn't. It's hard to find a Christian belief that doesn't allow the full liberal agenda with LGB people. I don't want pets taking communion or Trans preachers. It's like strictly conservative or far left there is no in-between. I was looking at ELCA but then realize how left they are. Then I look at UMC and like that they allow LGB people but see they also go far left. Guess this isn't the right place to ask what Christian religion closely mirrors my beliefs. Sounds like the new Methodist is almost identical to my original Christian church beliefs.
