I had this one as a kid. I played it innumerable times. And only today did I learn that they didn't Shatner, Nimoy and DeForest Kelley weren't doing the voices! I didn't catch on that they were soundalikes!

Loved this as a kid growing up. I had a ton of record books. It inspired me to make my own. I would draw and then use a tape recorder to act out the stories to my drawings. The first record book I had was Dracula, Terror in the snow. I am from NJ. I think the company Power Records was in NJ.

My mom gave me this after buying from a thrift store. Too bad the record was cracked. So finally I get to hear what was set to that writing. I have to admit the voices in my head while reading where Peter goes berserk conjured a far more irate tone than the actual recording.

This audio comic was my first experience with the English language when I was a kid, and I have since acquired it for personal perusing. Some pity that I didn't understand one word back then.

The foreigners' accents sound vaguely South American and one of their names is Pablo, the name of the country sounds like Somalia in Africa, and Festival of Rampala sounds Indian. It seems like it was written by someone with no grasp of what any foreign country is like, which I didn't notice as a child in the 1970's. In some ways, this seems like a precursor of "Indiana Jones" right down to the golden idol and trouble with snakes!

Kirk’s more likely solution, 11:52 “Communication terminated Sir, I’m trying to reestablish but they don’t acknowledge.” “THAT SONOFAB…..” “Captain…” (mutters) “Options Mr Spock?” “I see no choice but to make another attempt with the nets Captain.” (Pause) “I do.” “Such as Captain?” “Until now we’ve been trying to capture the Ambassador’s pet alive, with the risk of losing control of the Enterprise we can no longer afford to be so particular…. I want ever inch of the Enterprise scanned until we’ve pinpointed that creature, once we’ve found it that entire section of the ship is to be evacuated and then sealed off, then life support is to be shut down on that entire ship’s section.” “Killing the Ambassador’s pet may not go over well with Starfleet relations Captain.” “I’m prepared to take that risk Mr Spock, carry out my orders.” “Yes Captain.”

The monster sure doesn't look like Boris Korloff. In fact, with his chalk-white skin, he reminds me a little of Solomon Grundy.

Nice video - this fits almost exactly as a condensed version of Mary Shelley's novel - a few differences - we don't see the framing device of the ship and Frankenstein telling his story to the captain, but that has little impact - the largest omission is the bargain the monster makes w Frankenstein to make him a bride - that happens during their initial meeting, and Frankenstein almost completes this, but then changes his mind at the last minute and destroys her, triggering the Monster's further revenge - another change is that Frankenstein dies at the end, due to his exposure to the elements, and the Monster appears and weeps over him, and then departs w the intention of committing suicide by fire - really, the novel is about the consequences of poor parenting, and this video captures that
