Loved this printer until it quit functioning. Can't turn the power button off and I have an error icon on the top right. Screen won't light up.

What is the icon on the right side (on top) that is lit up yellow with what looks like a lightning bolt inside?

Its been a while since I built one, this video and explanation was very good. I have seen it done without installing the cooling fan, for example if you are using a AIO cooler it could get a little awkward, but and big but, better shut it down soon as it posts. CPU gets hot real quick. Obviously with cooling fan is the safe way.

Hey everyone, whatever you do, don't buy one of these...it's a total f-in piece of crap, I've had nothing but trouble with mine and I bought it new, not even refurbished, or whatever...it devours color ink even if you only ever print b&w, and then won't work without a new color ink cartridge fitted...that's not even starting on the problems after a power outage...you wouldn't believe the nightmare...so go somewhere else and stay well away from this utter garbage...be warned, if you do buy one, you're gonna regret it eventually...

You can buy replacement thermal pads for your ram and vrm's through various Mod and parts sites. They will make a difference, and when you have broken apart pads like that after a cleaning you'll get temp rising. Pads are inexpensive.

Nice video. Did you intend NOT to use thermal paste between the CPU and cooler? No matter how flat the cpu and cooler is there is always an air gap. Failure to use thermal paste will cause early failure, it's not even expensive even if you use arctic silver. Perhaps it's time to update the video?

I bought a power switch that plugs into the pins on the MOBO, just press that and you don't have to use the screwdriver trick if you don't have a power switch on the MOBO itself.

Im on my 3rd one. Hardly used any really. I only bought it for CD printing as I have an HP Im perfectly happy with for over 4 years now I use for everything else. Upon setting up my last replacement (which they said red is no longer available) I find its a refurbished unit. But more than this the print head is not installed and I cant figure out for the life of me how to put this conundrum into place. Thats 3 in a row folks. Im never buying another Canon printer again.

wow man im sorry to hear that. mine is still running great, however i never used it for CD printing. ive printed everything else with it though. i will say the ink runs out very quickly and the limitation on how many sheets of paper i can put in at a time is pretty frustrating. thanks for commenting and watching. Good luck with your printer problem i hope all goes well

This was very helpful even years later, thanks! I suppose people gave you negative ratings due to blowing on the CPU, but other than that i don't understand a downvote here. Again, VERY helpful, i will be testing my motherboard out of the case right now to give it one last chance before I return it...they are out of stock :( I do have 2 questions that maybe someone can answer though... 1.) I thought my motherboard has serious problems last night because every time i turned it on, it flashed a whole sh1tload of error codes very quickly. BUT, when HighTech Retrospect turned on HIS motherboard in this motherboard test video, his ALSO flashed a whole bunch of error codes!!!!! So, am I wrong? Is my board not bad? I am going to test bed this thing and try running stress tests on CPU on the cardboard! 2.) What is a TP cloth??? Tissue paper??? If so, i didnt think that was a good idea... 3.) I did NOT wipe my CPU prior to installing thermal paste. Is that a problem? 4.) I watched a different KZbin video when building my computer. It told me to install power supply, plug power supply into surge protector with the surge protector OFF and the power supply OFF, plug surge protector into wall, and run anti-static strap from screw or stand-off on power supply to keep me constantly grounded. It did NOT say ANYTHING about unplugging from the surge protector or wall before plugging into the motherboard, so I didn't. could this be the source of all my motherboard problems? This was an open box motherboard from a computer store.
