I reckon I am old fashioned but out of the six or seven saws I have in my shop, I have only had a kickback twice. Maybe another time outa 60 plus years. I wouldn't have a riving knife or any anti anything. use ya dang brain. I use my saws to make precision wooden molds and the 113 series craftsman saws are still as accurate as they were at the onset. keep stuff clean and calibrated......if this cancer don't get me I reckon some kickback may take another swing

I got the same kit on black Friday I also got spark plug,Z1 coil,and the intake plenum spacer. I have a K&N CAI but I use the dry filters with a mesh k&n screen I'm in Arizona the dust destroyed the first 2 oiled ones in a few months swapped to dry filters the coupler didn’t fit had to use a big worm clamp I zip tied it on and held while I drove to lowes down the street. My idle is the same I did all manual re-learn. The thing I noticed the most is in the 2k-4k has way more power I can really get her moving I also have a 6'lift and a AFE exhaust looking at some afe headers. No codes but thing loves to drink flex fuel and 91 gas 87 it hates.

Moin, Heiko. I am working on my 84 R100RS. The left cylinder is ticking quite a bit, so I think I'll try the shims. Also, I have watched several valve adjustment videos and there are some discrepancies/opinions on proper valve clearance. The sticker on my dash states 0.1mm intake and 0.15mm exhaust. That is what I set them to. Some video contributors suggest 0.1mm intake and 0.2mm exhaust, and one member of an Airhead Facebook Group, suggested 0.2mm intake and 0.3mm exhaust, with the explanation that he had 6 airheads and many miles on them and never had a problem. Then I hear that "slappy valves are happy valves"...etc. Pretty confusing. What do you suggest? Thank you!
@HeikosGarage
@HeikosGarage Ай бұрын
@@damerowr on your 84 you should already have a plastic bushing and shims on your rocker shafts. You can use more shims to take up excessive play. Make sure the push rods are straight and they are not hitting anything in the tube. Check that the push rod tubes are straight. Over the year bmw changed the valve clearance for the airheads. If you have a factory sticker that states your valve clearance just go with that.
@damerowr
@damerowr Ай бұрын
@@HeikosGarage Thank you! Yes. plastic bushings are installed, but I don't see any shims. I'll get some to add. Also, the push rods are not exactly in the center of the tubes, but I am not sure how t influence/change that.
@HeikosGarage
@HeikosGarage Ай бұрын
@@damerowr only add shims if you have axial play in your rockers. You can run your bike briefly with the valve cover removed. Put an oil catch pan or bucket under that cylinder while you are running it. Oil is going to spill a little. Running it without cover allows you to see the rockers move and maybe see your push rods move in and out. That way you can maybe identify the part that makes the noise. Check out this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2mylaOcn7Otoc0 Don't run the bike too long standing still, it can overheat.

This design is only safe for cylinders which are parallel to the spark plug. If the spark plug enters at an angle then only a very small contact point occurs, which can easily damage the piston crown. Better using the nylon style sold only which have a 90 and a 45 degree angle.
