You would get really good at getting knots out if you fish the Manistee River in Michigan for King salmon or the Maumee River in Ohio during the walleye run. I have seen so many times on both these rivers where someone gets lines tangled with someone on the other side then one of them cuts the others line & that person who gets cut off swims across river then the fists start flying. I have got really good at getting knots out of fishing line so l dont get knots on my head. Throw sum bubble gum on that hole & fish on.

Probably wore out from dragging it over gravel, sticks, grass, ect. Try patching it with a plastic weld machine and adding wear strips to it afterwards. When the wear strips wear down, replace them. At least that's how I've heard they work.

I was fishing on the river and had the same thing happen to me on the opposite side of the boat landing. Scariest thing when there is a bit of current. The kayak straight up titanic. Nose in the air and straight down she went. Pulled it back to the top where it floated. Lost 2 st. Croix rods and an abu along with my wallet and pair of crocs. Good thing ya got to shore. For the backlash pull on the loops to free up the spool. Buy the biggest soldering iron you can find. 150w is good. You can trim some plastic off some pieces topside to use for the weld. That way it’s the same melting temp. Once it is sealed then add some wear strips.

If your kayak is from a huge brand like vibe or ascend, you can buy color matched pieces of the plastic for your kayak and use that to patch it up. My vibe kayak came with a few pieces to patch holes.

@@ccarter0069 Curious are the PNW Coho better tasting then the PNW Chinook?? I never hear much mentioned about the PNW Coho. There’s no comparison in the Lake Michigan the Coho are superior table fare.
@ccarter0069
@ccarter0069 2 ай бұрын
@QuestFishingAdventures Coho in Lake Michigan are far superior for sure! There are different grades of Chinook here in Washington/Oregon. Spring Chinook are the best. They have to build incredible amounts of intramuscular fat to survive because once they hit fresh water, they no longer eat. "Springers" come into fresh water in March through May and don't usually spawn until September/October. So they have to have eaten enough to basically fast until they spawn, not including whatever journey (100-750 miles) taken. Those amounts of fat make them light on fire on the grill like the fattest ribeye you have ever cooked, maybe worse. They just ooze fat/oil (some as high as about 1 cup per filet). The next best are Summer Chinook. Lots of fat in them, but not like a Springer. They enter the river in June/July. Last is Fall Chinook, which enters the river in August/September and spawn in October/November (River dependent). All Chinook but especially fall Chinook are best described by how far up a river system they are going. You have lower river/fast spawning fish, which table fare wise are about like a Lake M Chinook, just a little better. As a matter of fact the Chinook in Lake Michigan actually originally comes from the Cowlitz River in Washington.Then you have "Upriver brights" that go 300+ miles and eat about like a summer Chinook. That's about as good of an explanation I can give you with 2 kids ready for bed!

If it’s a wild caught salmon that you get from the store, that will taste better, similar to my Alaskan Salmon fillet. But if it’s farm raised salmon fillets that you get from the store, I’m guessing those will be similar to the fish out of Lake Michigan. I still have some testing to do on that front. 😅

I agree ☝️ and sort of a bummer because the Great Lakes kings are doing quite well and the Alaska kings struggling big time. I’d be interested to see if there is a study comparing omega content between the fresh/ocean run salmon. @jakestores
@jakestores 2 ай бұрын
@NBedits No, it is not really age related. They get the color from eating crustaceans just like flamingos do. So, the color variations are due to different amounts of crustaceans in their diets. This is very easy to observe in stream fish. One stream with no crustaceans available will produce brook trout with white flesh. Another with crustaceans will produce brook trout with orange flesh. There are also certain wild populations of salmon that lack or have a deactivated gene for storing the carotenoids and have white flesh regardless of diet.
