Thanks Pete. Good video I subscribed. We need more people that take the time to explain things especially to the new comer.

Having grown up in Beenleigh I remember the old level crossing at Bethania before the overpass pass was there I remember having to wait for the cattle trains to go by whenever we headed over to bethania way in the 80’s & 90’s always thought back then a passenger service should’ve been resurrected,

I owned and partially renovated an old Queenslander at 12 Latrobe St. Very busy road. I know this route well. I remember when the Gateway Bridge was opened. Love the history. Thank you.

Great video and first time watcher. If I could make one suggestion (take it or leave it). Music needs to be a bit lower. When you were talking at the start and it started it pretty much drowned out the end of the chat (for me).

I remember going through Beenleigh on the old Pacific Highway as a young child on the way to the coast. It was definitely an experience… the surface was bumpy in parts (like a roll-a coaster or was it our car’s suspension) The road went through marshlands which are prob housing estates now..not the slick 6 lane highway of today that’s for sure ..😂

Thank you for the fond memories depicted by the beautiful drone shots. My wife and I travelled on the great tourist venture from Logan village to Beaudesert shortly before it closed. My good friend, Percy F. was the driver at the regulater of the fine old steam locomotive. So sad to see the well patronised excursion closed down. Another Queensland icon lost.

I went on one of the last steam excursions in the early 90's to Beaudesert. Such a shame to see this let go because of stupid lazy government. The line should have been upgraded and used for regular passenger services.

Good quality drone footage. I remember this being a working line and also the Bi- Centenary attempt to have it operate as a tourist line. I have walked parts of it, and recently much of it was walkable following the line and sleepers being ripped up. Since this summer rain, much of it is now overgrown. I walked a few km of it last week, south of Jimboomba. Let’s hope that money is forthcoming from all levels of Govt to turn it into a rail trail. This has been mooted for years, but seems slow in development. Note the popularity of the BVRT and the new NRRT. It would be a great asset for Logan/Scenic Rim . Maybe you could follow up with a similar coverage of the few remnants of the Beaudesert - Lamington/ Rathdowney line - an interesting history.

Back in the 90's i was with a group of train buffs , I researched the line from tugun to southport. It's sad is was all ripped up in thew 70's couple of buildings in Mudgeeraba , we even built it in miniture HO30 or TT PB15 loco . I'd build another layout in my retirement.

This is the first ive heard of this line. Such a crying shame that near sighted politicians have decided to rip up all the old lines. Imagine how much better our public transport would be if all the old rail lines were somehow magically restored. Imagine also if from beaudesert, the line was extended just a little further west to link up with the main line at bromelton. I’d imagine that if the rail line ran along Camp Cable rd, It is likely that the Americans built a siding to service Camp Cable during WW2.

My dad said when he was younger flood water actually did get into the Dugandan pub. Cant remember which flood it was exactly but I think it might had been the flood in 1974. Also my Dad was lucky enough to find bought a framed wall art picture of the Boonah train station with the Steam train stopped in the station.

It's a short sighted disgrace that this line has been decommissioned. The state government is happy to have tens of thousands of people move to the Beauy/Jimboomba area, but have done zero to cater for moving those people around.

There is practically no transport infrastructure to Beaudesert at all now. About one and a half to two hours south of Brisbane and about one and a half hours to the Gold Coast. Great historical doco.

Always makes me sad seeing old rails that have been shut down. In some cases it feels kind of short sighted and others its kind of a death knell for an entire region on top of the general loss of history.

The line apparently also in the earlier years went on to canungra from logan village also but there isnt much info on it and it was pulled up a long time ago. There is evidence of rail bridges on private property across the albert river down before tambourine village
@JGrandcourt6 ай бұрын
Hi Jeremy, You are right there is very limited info on the web, however as a train geek, I am aware of good info out there. A book called “Destination South Brisbane” by the Australian Railway Historical Society (ARHS) has a section on the Canungra and Beaudesert branches. Also the ARHS had magazines which had articles on these too, but probably would require a visit to the John Oxley Library, but I do understand not an easy thing to do. Thankyou for letting us know what is remaining of that branch line.

Enjoyable video Pete. I attempted to follow and photograph the Fassifern Valley rail line Boonah and Mount Edwards line) but very little evidence remains other than a couple of buildings and the earthworks, No tracks or sleepers remain. There is a short walking track from above the visitor info centre in Boonah to Podock Rd called the Rail Trail that goes through some interesting cuttings.

Thanks for showing me what i never see. it gives me a historical perspective on things. Also i grew up visiting the Chullora yards in nsw regularly with my uncle as a kid im, fascinated by old rail

Interesting. I bought a motorcycle from a shop on the northern dead-end section of Logan Road. I remember when the Riverside Expressway and Captain Cook Bridge opened, you had to exit onto Logan Road via Vulture Street (from memory). The SE freeway opened in stages, with links back to Logan Road a little further south each time. Thank you. 🙂

It's a sad sight to see an abandoned track in the middle of nowhere. Forgotten. As a kid, being driven past some of these old lines I think about what it was like with the trains still running along them. Personally, I think they should fully dismantle the lines or put them in some historical protection scheme.

G’day Pete, it’s Pete here! Yep we share the same name mate and I think this video is great. I have just come across your channel on my KZbin feed and have already subscribed to it. I am a keen rail enthusiast and feel sad that one stupid state government after another has closed so many rail lines throughout Queensland. I noticed that you received a recommendation from walkabout with Rob and that should mean a lot as his videos are also excellent. Cheers Pete and go well mate.
