Is the vertical spring on the trigger guard, just acting as a spacer? Also, how does the barrel not flop more forward, is there a stop we can't see?
@TheArmorersShop
@TheArmorersShop 8 күн бұрын
That's not a spring, it's a threaded rod that connects to the blue block (locking block). This is what holds the barrel closed. There is a spring between the trigger and the locking block, this spring keeps the locking block forward and engaged with the recess on the barrel.

I would do some research for people who have had similar problems. There may be issues directly connected with the C9 that are causing this malfunction.

I got an weak hammer spring on my maverick 88 12 gauge, I had failures to fire, I had fired a few times then it went off last night, looks like the primer was barely dented just enough to go off and I'm having trouble finding a hammer spring for the maverick 88, the maverick is nearly identical to the Mossberg 500 except the Mossberg 500 uses a metal trigger housing, the maverick 88 uses a cheap plastic trigger housing. My question is, is the mossberg 500 hammer spring interchangeable with maverick 88?

Excellent video! I wish I had found this before I spent 3 hours (and 6 lesser videos) trying to sort out the reassembly sequence. I slipped while installing the M*Carbo spring kit, and parts went every where. After 2-2.5 hours I put it aside, got some sleep and a fresh perspective, and had it done in 20 minutes or so after work. This video would have saved a lot of time, and some choice words. Saved in a playlist, subscribed. Thanks

Why is not safe carry with 6 rounds? The manual says carry with the gun in the safe notch! There’s no literature saying anything about accidental discharge in the old west ages….
@TheArmorersShop
@TheArmorersShop 5 ай бұрын
If memory serves. The firing pin is attached to the hammer and not separated like it is on modern revolvers. A single action with the hammer forward on a loaded chamber is considered dangerous because if the hammer is struck, detonation can occur. Modern reproductions have a safety notch on the hammer, allowing the sear to drop into a notch that prevents the hammer from making contact with the percussion cap on the aligned chamber.

What if you run all fingers on the hammer instead of just the thumb and pinky?
@TheArmorersShop
@TheArmorersShop Жыл бұрын
From what Tuco tells me there is not enough space between the fingers to be able to achieve this, There needs to be enough space to let the hammer to rotate forward without the next finger getting the way. Would be cool if it was possible.
