Simone is fantastic on vault, but I always giggle when she moves her arms back and forth down the runway, instead of to the sides.

the goddesses of beam routine, to me: 1- catalina (the cat: pretty, agile and mysterious); 2 - sanne (the butterfly: fluidity in motion w those spins); 3 - nastia (the swan: ellegant and gracious, a feather in the air)

I realise that this video is based on medals and reputation, and that some of the all-time greats are short on actual titles, but a video called 'Best Balance Beam Specialists of All Time' really should have Yang Bo, Fan Ye, Li Shanshan, Olga Mostapanova, Natalia Shaposhnikova, Ekaterina Vandisheva and Svetlana Grozdova in it.

Thanks for putting this together. There definitely needs to be distinction when totalling points between both all around medals and individual apparatus medals. Additionally team medals vs individual medals FYI there is no way on earth that Gina Gogean is greater than Lavinia Misosevici or Shannon Miller - she never won Olympic gold of any kind, while Milo has 2 individual Olympic gold. She also never won an all around girl while Shannon has 2 all around world golds. Just my 2 cents

Do people ever realise that the old gymnastics skills are discontinued and banned because they paralysed people?
@guttocgАй бұрын
Yes, this is the hardest Sport ever, and people often end their carriers because of injuries due to some skills. Some of them had been banned before others get hurt.

I mean can you really call World and Olympic ALL-AROUND medalist “Beam Specialists”?!?
@gymnasticfan9148Ай бұрын
@@ArtByDesign80 Can’t a person be specialist in more than one thing? Or be be a specialist in one apparatus and good in the rest?
@ArtByDesign80Ай бұрын
@ I would use the term specialist for someone who focuses on 1 or 2 events…like Stephen Nedoroscik being a pommel horse specialist…he literally does not train/compete other events…if someone medals in All-Around I think they can have stronger events…but I would not say they were event specialists. 🤷🏻♂️
@gymnasticfan9148Ай бұрын
@ You can use specialist for both, a person who focus in only 1 thing and a person who excels in one thing

Impossible to compare gymnasts from the 60's doing basic handsprings to gymnasts throwing Amanars and double Yurchenkos. This is all abut how many competitions they were in. Chuso gets the longevity award, we know that, but Simone, Rebecca and Maroney are hands down the best we've seen in decades.

I'm with you on Yang Bo. It's an absolute travesty that she only has the 1990 World Cup victory to show for her magnificence. She was simply magnificent. This video is about beam medallists rather than actual beam specialists.

Sanna Wevers????? Lmao that was the biggest waste of a medal ever! Performing a level 3 dismount at the Olympics please
@lizk17802 ай бұрын
100% agree! Although her beam routine is very pretty to watch, there is low risk in learning difficult turns. Gymnasts who combine artistry with difficult acrobatic skills have a far superior routine.
@cocoroni10312 ай бұрын
Biggest waste how? Only she can do these difficult turns and the turn combo on beam. You don’t have to be great on everything to get a medal. Besides, on-beam acro difficulty is useless thanks to the beam code. Most importantly, she hits when it matters on beam.
@cocoroni10312 ай бұрын
@@lizk1780 it’s not of low risk. No one does double L turn and triple turn on beam. “Difficult acrobatics” is a lie because many people’s most difficult acro excluding the dismount is an aerial nowadays.
