For the record (pun intended) "The Highway Patrol" (co-written by Red Simpson, Ray Rush, and Dennis Payne) was recorded and released in by Red Simpson in 1966 (co-written by Red Simpson, Ray Rush, and Dennis Payne). I remember it getting a lot of air play back then. Not trying to take anything away from Junior Brown who did an awesome cover, but just wanting to set the record straight.

Regardless of your musical tastes, if you ever get the chance to see Jr. in a relatively small venue, DO IT! Fair warning, however... bring earplugs. His two "Fender Twins" will be absolutely screaming!😮

Bang Bang Boom Boom this song is KILLER. Haters beware your squeeze may just go Texas two steppin off with someone who can appreciate a good song when they hear it 😮😂😮

That “cabin” was originally a hay barn. Wide gaps between logs to allow hay to dry.

I’m a bit of a metalhead, but I appreciate music in any form. A good buddy of mine introduced me to Junior here about a month back and I’ve been playing a lot of him ever since. you just gotta stand in awe of him and his picking. He makes it look easy and you gotta admit he’s having a lot of fun doing it.

I was in law enforcement when "Highway Patrol" came out. We'd have to both respond to and occasionally just drop in for a walk through of local bars, and one DJ at one bar used to also be a cop. Ol' Bonnie, God rest her soul, used to have that song cued all the time and that would start before the door closed behind us. That was always very cool.

Wow !!! Thanks for posting this - I love Junior Brown. I’m very eclectic in my music tastes (everything from Gregorian Chant to modern Hip-Hop!!), but have always had a weakness for great guitar playing. First heard his “Surf Medley” on an internet surf music playlist and chased it down. Been hooked ever since. Great to see this video about him !!

This song will be played at my Wake. I was a State Trooper in the 90’/20’s, b4 I went Federal. Working for the State Highway Patrol is without a doubt, the Best, Hardest and most Fun job I’ve ever had! Thank you Junior, The former 1150-HP in Missouri 🚓.

When my boys were teens and fighting on a long drive I played my Jr Brown tape, which they hated because it was "cornball country". Punishment for them... I'd rewind "Highway Patrol" again and again, marvel at the guitar solo, sing along in my bass voice, "Justa doin my job... on the highway patrol." Good times!
