Played this multiple times, one of the best RPG I may have played in my childhood days along with Final Fantasy Series, Lunar 1&2, Legend of Mana, Breath of Fire Series. The game system of Thousand Arms is pretty neat, the dating simulation is also essential to achieve skills but should align on a certain level to forge. 10:00 Ironically, Chrono Trigger's soundtrack has some of the most complicated and intricate harmonic syntax, being that it largely employs "non-functional harmony" in it's sound track. Despite this, it retains the simplicity in its beautiful and, dare I say, intuitive melodic structure. A beautiful balance is struck between the two primary composers for the soundtrack, Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu. Mitsuda using much more complicated 'jazzy' non-functional harmonies on the whole, which is why many tracks have this eerie, mysterious tone, and Uematsu bringing his gorgeous, notoriusly catchy, melody-first style of composition that has tugged at player's heart strings in all the final fantasy games. This is how we end up with beautiful mysterious pieces like, "Secret of The Forest" and adorably memorable tunes like Frogs's Theme." Uematsu adapts to Mitsuda's style beautifully in his tracks by merging the non-functional harmony established with his groovy rhythmic structure for example in the track, "Tyran Castle." Overall a very complex and truly unique soundtrack that no other video game has even attempted to immitate. I can't thing of one video game that uses non-functional harmony as its core identity, although the soundtrack has undoubtedly has influenced many jrpgs of the present for example, "Octopath Traveler," the overt use of alternative syntax is truly unique.
