@GRSEMETROMALL 2024 range listed is fully loaded with 4000 lbs of cargo. Real near empty range is over 200+ miles. Andrey tested the old version in wintry conditions to 165 miles. With a heat pump and bigger battery and faster charging. You should see 215-235+ miles. Chevy Bolt EV is considered long range with 238+ miles without heatpump. E Transit level 2 charging up to 19.2kW and DCFC NACS upto 180+ kW. 89kWh battery you're looking at a 200+ mile range with 30 minute fast charge. 8 hour level 2 charge with full 2.4kW internal power usage. Heater or AC with game machine TV fridge and Cooker.

@@GRSEMETROMALL bright drop offers 270-300 miles of range. You might get 500 in a stripped down Escalade iQ. I'm working on getting a police Vistiq five seater, cage, gun and computer safe, plus speed benefits 700/800 volt 170+kWh battery and 500+ mile range. Plus it is Fast. Police light bar integrated etc... and reasonable cost. Mind you police cost is more than courier cost.
@arenjay3278Күн бұрын
@@GRSEMETROMALL you say you need do you need or do you need to pay for the operating costs. A WT4 Silverado work truck will give 450-480 miles of range. Charges up to 400kW and can give 400 miles in 30-45 minutes. Enough time to eat take breaks. Plus a 20 minute break three a day can give over 600 miles of range.

I work for an electrical contractor, and we have 3 Ford transit vans. They have been very reliable. Be very careful when it's time to replace the tires on it. If they don't have a stiff sidewall, it will be really scary to drive. Our local tire shop put the wrong ones on, and it didn't take us very long to make them put a different set on. This was a large chain that made the mistake. They just didn't know.

Erik, do you have any recommendations on how to secure wooden facing to the aluminum extrusions?
@ErikJohnson202012 күн бұрын
The two main options are: 1) An inset pannel, which uses pannel mount brackets. Less strong, but doesn't add any bulk and looks very clean. 2) A flush-mount panel that goes up against the aluminum. Stronger, but adds bulk to the external dimensions. I've seen a lot of people using this by default for all panels, which then makes the aluminum redundant. But it's a great option for easy cabinet doors.

I so want the Ford to be the pick. I’ve owned a Ford transit high roof all-wheel-drive 3.6 eco-boost for four years. In those four years I’ve had $4782 in maintenance and other issues. I bought it brand new. Yes I feel that the Mercedes will be more maintenance expensive but you don’t have to change a oil for 20,000 miles. The other engineered parts are just that engineered to work together. I truly hope that this new van will last me 200,000 miles with a regular maintenance.

Interesting to know the moble Hotspot kills your battery. Is there a better service? Starlink?
@ErikJohnson202023 күн бұрын
Honestly, it wouldn't be hard to just add a starlink dish on your own, rather than paying a premium for Ford to install it for you. Plus, that way, you can power it from your house batteries and not the starter battery.

I am curious why did you use aluminum
@ErikJohnson202029 күн бұрын
It's fantastic for the weight and strength, plus it won't rot or rust. However, it does transfer a bit of heat into or out of the immediate floor space. I've measured it being a few degrees colder on the wood subfloor surface immediately above the rails vs in the center of an insulation pannel. If I was going to do it over, I'd probably use 1.5" polystyrene boards, with 1x1 aluminum tube, and epoxy a 1/2" strip of something like hard vinyl to one side of the aluminum tube to act as a thermal break from the van's metal floor.

In the market for a van to replace my Ford F250 diesel for my business. Dependability and longevity are priorities so the Gen III Sprinter van is my choice. One can't argue about German engineering with diesel engines repeatedly running 500K miles. Friends in the trade who opted for the ProMaster seem to always regret that decision once their van reaches 75K miles. The Ford Transit was in the running but again ..... one can't beat that German engineering, in my humble opinion 😮😅

Never buy a Mercedes junk! My friends Camper blew a water pump in South New jersey. The local Mercedes dealer and all the local camper dealers could not or did not want to service it! He had to have his camper towed 90 miles to the Edison Mercedes dealer for a simple water pump replacement. Mercedes is still famous for being over priced. over engineered , unserviceable junk with mediocre reliability! They have done nothing to address any over these issues. DONT DO IT!

why do you keep calling it bio diesel? it is just diesel that burns diesel fuel. Bio diesel is cooking oil used in a modified diesel motor instead of diesel fuel.

I'm going to be looking at a used Transit and as I worked at Enterprise RAC for 10 years and I know their maintenance is computer scheduled and if something pops up that a rental customer notices they check it into the maintenance log and they have so many days to complete the repair so the money they lose is minimized. I presume U-Haul and other truck rental companies rent the Transit it should be maintained on schedule.

@Dom_Mason3 ай бұрын
Biggest thing why I picked the Transit over the Promaster is they way they drive. The Promaster drives like a bus/truck. You literally lean forward when driving. It's the most uncomforable feeling for me. The Transit drives like a SUV. Plus many of the cup holders etc. are within reach.
