This popped up on my feed, figured I would hear your input 🤙 well displayed research. I have a 2015 T250 3.7L that I have put 312k miles on. I’ve had very minor problems from it. I pray the engine has another 100k left to give me, but I have no reason to believe it won’t.

Areas that are really cold generally sell winter variant diesel at the pump during winters. No extra additives needed. Never had any issues with diesel gelling.

I was about to buy a Mercedes, I changed my mind, I will buy a Ford.

Personally I’m a diesel nut. Very good and well thought out presentation. Mercedes definitely not for everyone.

Two years later and this video is still super helpful. I'm currently trying to decide between the Transit and Sprinter and the reasons you mention are why I'm leaning toward the Transit. Thank you!

I think people who buy a class B on a Sprinter are naive about maintenance. I seen it on the FB post that they don't even know the oil type...also digital rear view mirror Dodge Ram and heated seats for the Sprinter are a plus

I work at an online supermarket depot and we have many sprinters and they have mostly covered in excess of 200k miles and they all drive pretty good, transits are no match for sprinters especially the front wheel drive variants.

You will be crying in a few years when it's rusting away like an old bucket, I've have two transit vans the bloody cills rot like hell. Engine is brilliant on them.

I'm going to be looking at a used Transit and as I worked at Enterprise RAC for 10 years and I know their maintenance is computer scheduled and if something pops up that a rental customer notices they check it into the maintenance log and they have so many days to complete the repair so the money they lose is minimized. I presume U-Haul and other truck rental companies rent the Transit it should be maintained on schedule.

I'm in the market for a ford transit v6 lwb awd high roof.. no dually (need space between weel humps). On the fence about e-transit,gasoline and diesel... I was not aware I could upgrade 2wd to awd 😮

Biggest thing why I picked the Transit over the Promaster is they way they drive. The Promaster drives like a bus/truck. You literally lean forward when driving. It's the most uncomforable feeling for me. The Transit drives like a SUV. Plus many of the cup holders etc. are within reach.

I have 230k miles on a Ford Transit 250 ecoboost high roof,2 transmission, and I notice that after 100k miles, it becomes a money pit; also, if you have to replace the catalytic, it is 6k costly doing a poor idea design. Also, they should have done better on the exhaust manifold with poor quality bolts and gaskets, another 5k, I have had a terrible experience on my side, and I hope you think twice and ask before you buy.

80/20 really isn't for your average van build. Mainly because it's so much more expensive than wood. Will you get the above average person or couple willing to spend that extra money for the build? Well, that depends on what area of the country you live in. If you live in the south, very few will want the 8020 because you can reinforce your frame and bolt it down and be just as secure. But if you are living in an area of the country where there are plenty of good jobs, lot's of industry, and couples with spendable income? Yeah then I can see those people opting for 8020

I've been doing some light research for a van. I was already thinking of the Transit (with the same reasons you pointed out) but learning of the maintenance costs, the Sprinter was no longer a consideration which is a bummer because it really does look sexy.

You used the wrong screws. The four short button head screws mount the fan.. the white ones are for the interior cover

As a northern Canadian who daily’s diesels, your fuel will not gel unless you’ve bought it in a hot climate and you bring it to a cold one. The anti-gelling additives are in the fuel at the pump in cold areas, and modern diesels start and make heat as well as a gas engine. You will lose 10% of your fuel economy in the winter, however you will have a nearly identical drop in economy with gas in my experience.

Just purchased a used 2021 Transit. Made it to the part in the video about the mobile hot spot being a battery drain, got a phone call to PU a friend, went to my van, used the remote start feature and Ford Pass hit me with a lo bat warning! So I've turned all connectivity off FTM.

Do your own maintenance, its not rocket surgery. And STOP telling people that Mercedes engines are a lot more complex... its just an engine just like any engine and not a warp drive on an Enterprise. I can't stand it when incompetent and uninformed people like your self spread incorrect information!!
