Cheevos? I appreciate them greatly! I don't hunt for them, but I appreciate seeing them on other people's accounts or on the per-game Activity Feed: Here's how deep someone is into a particular game, here's a game this person is\was obsessed with, over there is the person who bought a "Zup" for the purposes of profile decorations, over here is someone who only collects Steam Cards from bundled games (2-3 hours of playtime 0 achievements on each)... Listing off those examples, I realise this is just snooping, (mostly) guilt free snooping. So, uh, Happy Final Creeper Comment of The Year, everyone!

That "end of desktop article", please do explain to me how a laptop would be less of an environmental burden. That has nothing to do with laptop vs desktop, that only has to do with poor powermanagement on X86. Here is the solution: make X86 on the desktop run with a much lower electrical power while having light tasks and ramp up within a ms as soon as you game, render or compile code. It is not that hard. With a discrete graphics card (5700 XT in my case) using 36-38 Watt while not doing anything other than displaying static images we have a lot of waste, but that is not necessarily because of the size of the GPU, the amount of memory and buswidth, mostly it is just because - in my case AMD - the company sucks at powermanagement for those graphics cards. For X86 Intel and AMD could dump a lot of legacy-bloat and the CPU's could have a much lower idle power. I suspect that a lot of electrical power is wasted because the 3 companies don't prioritize that for the desktop. I myself want the best of both worlds: low idle power, high power available when needed.

The end of desktop gaming will not happen in the next decades, it certainly won't happen in the next year. The desktop gives power, the desktop gives less noise with that power, gaming on a fixed position allows the gamer to fully have his attention with the game. Laptops suck, tablets suck, desktop for the win! We just make do with laptops when we have to and we make do with gaming-tablets when we want to game but are outside our homes. But at least gaming-tablets don't have as bad ergonomics problems as laptops, that problem got fixed but not having a keyboard on it at all. 😆

It's December 2024 and I just installed Studio One 7 on Ubuntu. It's working but it's still Beta. Installing the DAW was a pain in the butt because there were some issues with dependencies. I use Studio One on Windows and I love it. Studio One on Linux however is still a long way to go. Personally I prefer Arch Linux but Studio One is not gonna run on it. It makes me wonder whether the guys at Presonus are really good at creating Linux software. They should probably talk to Bitwig and ask for some pointers. There's a very well working Linux version of Bitwig Studio available.

NVMe on GPU is not a bad idea. Kind of works as heatsink the same time. But it is also scary because it now feature locks the system to that GPU. That might or might not be a problem. But personally to even consider that as an option, it would need to be a standard feature. I doubt that is going to become a thing because high end GPU's already run hot and adding NVMe heaters to it is not going to help that. So the idea of exposing the lanes is good, it just would need to be exposed via a connector instead. In style of SATA, getting rid of M.2 slots. Yes "U.2" exists but requires special disks and no consumer MB supports it. So I would like to see that work to go forwards. CopprLink maybe is the solution, who knows. I just wish more people would talk about the subject to get more wind under it. Also dropping a search word for people interested on the topic: PCIe bifurcation, technical term for the lane splitting. As you fast might learn, not a trivial thing to do and it will not work everywhere. Just pointing that out because the feature of this GPU might not work for you because your system does not support bifurcation.

Pedro's misgivings about the form software's upcoming rogue-lite are not uncommon, but can be somewhat alleviated by the fact that Night Lore is promised to have a perfectly functional offline single player. If this fact does not sufficiently quell his anguish, on behalf of the people who wanted another chance at an official randomiser mode, I'd like to regretfully request that he suffer in silence. At least until the next major release (which this is not).

Only 7 comments... I'm gonna chime in and say we have a war coming between windows / linux. More and more people who respect their privacy are switching to linux. The more and more people are going to grow to the point we cannot be ignored and then they will finally have to figure out the problem. Cheating. The evil part of humanity. The dark side if you will. I want linux to defeat windows as much as the next guy but I believe in equality. People are so used to windows that change is not in the cards... although there are themes that can be applied to mimic the windows environment it will never be truly the same because linux is based on an entirely different principle... allow the user to do what they will with there own damn computer. My apologies for this rant but I am sick and tired of cheaters. Cheating should be a felony whether playing the system for unemployment or using cheats in a video game. Cheating is bad and there's not enough good people that will stand up for what is right and that needs to change... even in this digital age. Parents control your gawd dayum kids!!! Seriously!

Days gone. I bought the game brand new on steam. I played it everyday and loved the story line. The game is pretty long and I stopped on a holiday break. I tried to pick it back up a few months later and could not get past a cave hoard battle sequence you could not get out of. I tried for days to get past it and couldn't. I picked it up 2 years later and asked why did I stop playing this and it was the same exact part that I couldn't pass.

guys, click on your account on the top right, then choose store preferences, where you can hide nudity/sexual content in 3 levels from either store or community separately. If you want to be even more specific: go down to Tags To Exclude and add: Sexual Content, Nudity, Hentai, then in Search Options below check "Hide ignored items". There's a reason for that 30%, Valve actually works on their storefront. It's the best experience BY FAR, to the point people buying in other stores still go to Steam to read reviews, ratings and community posts.
