Great video if you're a disassembling pallets like this man does and the others on the internet I've just learned of this are too it's wonderful now I haven't done this but I have a great idea to keep the air tool from making an indentation in the wood maybe put a metal washer over the nail and then pull the trigger through trial and error you might need to say three washers but then you'll be able to use your wood for decorative on corrupted purposes

Useful for aspiring dinghy builders. They use dozens of clamps at a time when glueing on gunwales/inwales etc.

Excellent plan & build. Very well thought out video and explanation. I just built one for myself and its awesome. Even trimmed it out with some scrap walnut. Almost too pretty to use! Thank you for sharing.

I just found this video! And I felt my mind wasn’t playing tricks on me! Help me to understand why the majority of videos seem to stir wood turner’s towards CBN wheels & jigs? When a basic grinder & light touch using your hands, seem to accomplish the job?

I am getting back into wood working, with my children, and have been thinking about a lathe build for each of them! Yours is not only functional, but beautiful as well! Did you by any means save or draw up the plans for this build! If you did This Marine Corps Veteran would like a copy if possible, with material list! And I do have 2 other questions about this lathe, can it do “face plate work, and did you also build longer bed rails for longer work?

A fourth idea is a spring loaded lock block, using 2 springs 4 washers & 3 dowels + 1 knob. Simply drill 3 holes for dowels in your spacer, and your lock block, glue all dowels in the lock block leaving one about 1 inch longer( the center one) place a washer over the two outer dowels, and your last 2 washers over the springs. Placing the dowels through the 3 hole in the spacer so the middle dowel that will receive knob extends past the bottom of the spacer install the knob permanently! Now you can install the tool holder to the wall cleat pull down on the lock knob, rest it back to the wall and release the knob the springs push the lock block french cleat!

4 years later with stimulus inflation included you can catch it on sale for less then he paid. Buying the material to make it costs more.

I bought this bench once. Built it, and clamped one board in the vice. When I did that the bench top split. I made a much better and stronger bench for just a bit more. And most of that money was spent on two good vice hardware kits.

Wow, you and your team have amazing talent! Good Luck to you guys! 🍀 Subscribed after watching your cleat wall vid. I’ve been trying to self teach myself woodworking for the past 12 years by trial & error and KZbin. Husband and I are now downsizing my woodshop to divide it for my Online Reselling office. so I’ll be binge watching your channel now for organization lol 😂

Do you ever have a problem with a lightweight cleat and the tool on it moving sideways when you bump it? I’m clumsy and I hate knocking something else off when I put my tool away or get one. I have pegboard with locked in pegs now and the tools are spaced far apart so I don’t have a problem with that. But I have bought so many new tools that I need to arrange things differently.

Thanks for the info. Very thorough analysis. I'm thinking about getting one to use as a mixing desk in my studio. I would like to know the height width and depth of the top drawer interior. I'm wondering if a small piano keyboard would fit in it. If you have time, would you mind checking that out? If I seek out a desk that is "music specific", you know the price will triple.

Some 5 years on I have fallen across this channel by accident! Personally I prefer and work much better in metal, however that said, I do, on occasion transfer my very mediocre skills across the material divide to organic fibrous material (wood) where I can't hold a candle to the skills we see here. All that said, I have been thinking about a wood lathe for some time and this has given me some ideas, far simpler and with far more metal in it, I am far better with a welder than making a joint! Hats off to you sir, and I shall be watching the whole build series and, no doubt watching many of your other offerings. When a man displays his skill as well as you, it deserves to be seen by all, and it is certainly appreciated across the organic divide, without the skill set of your forbears, my own metal working craft would never have even existed, and for that I thank you. I look forward to many informative and instructive hours stretching forward into the future.

I have 4 of these bolted together to make a massive bench. I do have a Sjobergs 2000 as my main "Altar", so these satisfy me as basically a giant table. White Mahogany is what mine is, which is actually rubber tree wood.

My experience with harbor freight is that power tools, hand tools, drill bits, and saw blades are likely to fail quickly, if not on first use. Things like anvils and bearing splitters do a little better.

thanks, I have purchased several WEN tools, Jointer (appears to be same as Craftsman, but $100 cheaper) trim router, benchtop belt sander, extremely happy with all. I started tinkering with wood working in 1980's, and always bought Craftsman or Delta, WEN is on par with them quality wise, but cheaper if you order direct FREE s-h on orders over $25. My WEN spindle sander will be here Sat.

I'm with you on everything except squaring up the second end. that's great if you have a project, and are cutting to length. But, I'm not doing that until I know the length I need. With my luck, I'll need a half inch shorter and will, need to recut the second end again. I'm not going to waste my time on that until I have a measurement.

The final comment, the cheaper model will "probably break after a few uses" is unjustified in a review video. You need to show that. Why did you show anything? You could have left them in the boxes and just said what the results "probably would be".
