I honestly don't care about a couple of hp left or right, the sound of those open intakes is just amazing. I'm on the fence about purchasing a GruppeM for my E46 330i, but they're a bit unobtainable here in mainland Europe.

It's not cheaper considering you have to buy the whole kit for this swap, and then god knows where to buy replacement clutch disks for your specific kit...

do you know if a worn out vanos will cause massive misfires at low rpms? like if you goose the throttle at low rpms, it instantly misfires, from around 1500 to 2500rpms, but if you let off throttle and goose it again it stops..

Another great video Michael. You were able to clearly articulate a concept and demonstrate a process that many just turn into a confusing mess. I was worried whether my VANOS unit was at risk as my beloved E46 M3 Convertible is approaching 200,000 Km, but after this, I know what to listen for. I am undertaking many of the more basic maintenance tasks, but the BMer is booked in to Sourthern BMW in Melbourne early next month for rod bearings and engine mounts and a full health check. I will then progress the resulting work list as I plan to keep the street legal race car till I drop off the perch and then they can bury me in it…….. Love your work!!! Love learning about E46. Thank you.

Boring old (78) long retired pom mechanic here; too many years in the trade who did time on Alfa, Jaguar, and Ferrari in UK and Canada. Worked with many Oz and NZ mechanics over the years who were all great. Now I'm the proud owner of a mint X5 3.0 2005 (209k kms) with a vibration problem which is definitely drive shaft related. However, the fix also boils down to a question of technique. Hitting wrenches (ok, spanners) with a hammer and inter-linking wrenches for more leverage are definite no-no's and can result on tools flying across the shop floor and opening up of wrench jaws. Not at all recommended. Boring old pom mechanic....

I don't think I've ever seen a filter comparison where Hengst didn't end up on the highest top. Top three filter manufacturers in my eyes are: no.1 Hengst, no.2 Mahle, no.3 Mann Filters. (However, I experience Mann a bit like a falling star. I no longer have 100% faith in their quality. Hengst is in a different league in comparison).

Thank you for this great channel. I have the brass bleed screw and magnetic sump and diff plug bolts. I plan to implement your other recommendations. Great to see another Aussie E46 lover, who seems very knowledgeable indeed. Keep up the great work. I am a fan and have subscribed to your channel. I am looking into the Stuart water pump as it was not clear if they have a model for the 2003 BMW E46 M3 Convertible? I have just started conducting work on my E46 and look forward to learning much more from your channel. Thank you.

My 330ci is garaged during winter months and continuously drips oil even though I haven't started the car in 5 months. Ive never addressed the oil pan gasket, the CCV or Dip stick o ring. Logic tells me the leak would have to be below the oil level. Is the passenger side of the oil pan gasket below the oil level where the pan meets the block? Could the dipstick o ring be my likely culprit?

As usual, another excellent presentation with all the info and none of the time-wasting nonsense. Thank you! I went on the Rock Auto website and as you went through each item I found them available with multiple suppliers for each part and the prices are fair. I have used Rock Auto for the past couple of years and they are top notch with quick delivery times. They service the US and, maybe, Canada. Overseas orders may be possible, I really don't know but it wouldn't hurt to check.

I really want to install them on my E46, but everything I'm reading says spacers are not legal in any state in Australia. It says your rego and insurance will all be void, meaning you are liable for all and any damages in any crash situation and are basically driving an unregistered car. Anyone have any info to the contrary?

Don't cut the MAF sensor line. All you have to do is remove the plastic box all the wires route, cover all the wires that are then exposed, and you get much more length and it helps make it possible without splicing stuff.

This man acts like I have 20k in my bank... I love these quality mods, but damn I'll have to save a lot of money for at least 1 of these mods (apart from the nut and wire lol) Much love from Texas, I usually come back to this exact video to remind myself of what I want to upgrade.
