Are we to conclude that these pre-payments ($30-50K) for very dangerous military service will have to continue to continue the war? If Russia's energy export income were to be cut off, would there still be $25B per year the Kremlin and Oblasts have for buying up more men? Also, why don't Ukrainians incent these poor schlubs, the 1st day on the front line, to surrender in exchange for a one-time-only $25K reward? The West can afford to "outbid" Russia, save these men's lives, and effectively stop the war. Where is the strategic counter-thinking in the West to buy victory in this way for Ukraine? This stream has raised this question for me.

Perhaps in the best of all worlds Russia would have a leadership that will combine, Nelson Mandela and his Truth and reconciliation commission. And once that was over to an authoritarian like Lee Kuan yew did in Singapore, where he raised wages to be the equivalent of even better the Private industry and was willing to punish the few transgressors as an example of what not to do, the final outcome was Singapore has one of the best economies it's honest it's fair and it worked, it was one of the rare cases of a benevolent dictator and eventually it's open honest and Democratic. Dad said no system is perfect however this may be the closest they got so far. It's a dream, but we had an old saying in Canada we may be lying in the gutter but our eyes are all the stars. Scientia Non Domus Habet, (Knowledge Has No Home) antiguajohn PS, I have enjoyed your very informative program and I was considering emailing your Pina colada from here on the beach watching the sun going down.,., Unfortunately for some odd reason that has been disabled in this planet 🥴 Work perfectly well on Star Trek 😁 Keep joking and laughing it lowers stress it's a matter of fact during its long history Russia persist an incredible sense of humor. Best wishes

Shortage of potatoes because Russia is now no. 1 exporter of wheat in the world now. Putin getting money by selling wheat, potatoes do not generate billions of dollars like wheat.

Why do they waste money on piping hot water everywhere? Surely more efficient to just heat the houses using electricity to each well insulated house. Why waste money and energy heating the ground with pipes? Are Russians unable to handle cold ground??

Sadly i think Putin also see's his country going to shit, and secretly his grip on it, but according to this self justified terrorist it is inconceivable to him that his special opperation to denatzify Ukraine just didn't know when to call it a day and turn around and go home. This guy is indeed crazy, and a sore loser. He will drop the bomb because if he can't have it his way and as he said, whats the purpose of a world if there is no Russia. Sadly he can not see a Russia without him in it. All this is completly his fault, and we are letting him get away with it?.

Why don’t the Russian diaspora protest the actions of Putin? Where in the world was there some displays of discontent and anger against this war ? Can you find anything?

A lawyer in the US here brought a lawsuit against Costco because their ingredients on the butter didnt list milk, because milk is an allergy for some, all several thousand pounds or tons of Kirkland butter were "recalled". But I believe it was redirected to another location.

It’s really painful to watch, you are a good man. I just hope many more Russians will eventually think more like you. Don’t loose hope ❤

In the end there will be two exchange rates for ruble. As it was in USSR. I remember 1984, when visiting Russia. The official rate was something but in black market it was for time of that (if I remember fight)

Man I'm terribly sorry this happened to your country (Edit - it happened to all of us, it pains even us in the West, it consumes everyone)that you were unfortunate enough to have putin as a leader apparently for life, only 2 things that might stop this war and thats if God himself decides to stop putin or no.2 which looks less likely is enough of the west and European countries get the balls to all band together and give putin a demand to immediately stop the war and pull completely out of Ukraine

Did every smart Russian already left Russia? Sutch a great, vast country decided to torn into pieces over what? No, not over Russian speaking minority, just one person idea of great Russia. Ukraine is not only a bread basket it holds LITHIUM and other resources that Putin claim is hers

I think the most interesting to me was your comment about the true cost of this war compared to what other uses this money could have been applied to - education, infrastructure, medical institutions, etc. That comparison really brings home the enormous cost of this war - the death of the future. That will lodge deeply in my mind. Slava Ukraini. 💛💙
