The trees will attenuate my xmit and rcv signals but it still works hitting the repeaters in my area. Simplex goes out about 10 miles. I think you could use an Ed Fong/N9TAX antenna in the trees. The hardest part is getting the antenna to the highest branch. 73 N4VFR

@@DarrenN4VFR : I got my license in 1966. I guess that makes me an "Old-Timer". The yard is very small here, 100 feet by 40 feet, and the house sits roughly 1/3 the way into the yard from the street. My back yard has the AC drop running diagonally over the garage and driveway, and I have a 33KV power line along the rear property line. My useable space out back is only 25 feet by 55 feet. I have a patio lattice roof and a rear balcony. They have my VHF antennas (6M vertical, VHF/UHF Colinear, 6 meter horizontal Omni Loop) plus a 20 - 6 meter Cobweb. A trap vertical is on the north property line, a 10 meter vertical is on a mast at the rear of the patio and a 30 foot mast supports a shortened 80 - 10 inverted-L. The back yard is full.... The Jetstream JTV680F is on a mast in the front flower garden. I just put it up as a secondary antenna, primarily to test rigs and to run FT4 or FT8 digital. It was a flea market purchase almost on a whim ($60 well spent). I will run it through the fall & winter and maybe longer. I also build magnetic loops for portable operations on 80 through 6 meters. Just make the loop big enough for what you need to provide some tension relief. I don't really measure and I know it will effect the antenna, that's why I have an external HF tuner. I don't have to be precise.

Yeah Tom, The DX Commander Classic performs better for me. I've already sold both of my Zero Five antennas. For 80meters, I use a double bazooka.

@@nol_yaw I'm not sure, you may have to guy it also if it's a stand alone. Measure it and see if a 1 inch pole would fit.

@@frankb6333 awww man sorry to hear about your lightning strike. USAA sux with claims and yes, they close them fast. Right now, I'm sucking it up and paying for my repairs. My deductible is $2000, so I will just pay out of pocket.

I was able to still transmit on APRS freq at hight power as this is my APRS Radio.

@@DarrenN4VFR Looks like radio transmits at 50 watts up to 462 then by 467 drops off to about 35 watts.
