JG thought he should neve be taken out of a game. JJ was the HC and had to choose his best option to win. Doesn't make either one a bad guy.

I really appreciate the tackling from of players like Doug, Gary, and Pat Fisher. I played soccer in college as a freshman and went out for football junior year spring league. We wore full pads on day one. And I hadn't played th game since I was 11. It was tough to get used to how rough practices could get. I did too much helmet to helmet contact, I think. The coach told me to knock it off or I'd break my neck. I needed to learn form tackling, but the coach never taught me. They didn't care. I was third string. So I notice what Gary and Doug could do that was special -- the aerial-missile technique. ;)

Amazing how television always loved showing the 2 of them yelling at each other, but never explained that they don't hate each other, its just one of those things. There was a Parcells / Simms yelling fit they used to show, they didn't make a big deal out of it

My mother was a nurse at Hillsdale Hospital where Howard went to college. Howard worked at the hospital when he was in school and mom would have a story now and then about Howard. I always liked the 49er's due to the stories I heard from my mom even though I was a diehard Lions fan.

As an Illinois fan I can say I was a fan of Jeff George’s ability. He was just too much of a selfish prick which is why his career went the way it did. Course most young men with success and extreme popularity get a bit arrogant and cocky. If I was a generational talented qb and people worshipped the ground I walked on I couldn’t say I would be a whole lot different

Fight on Brad Leggit and to Todd Marinovich..Todd I played my first HS game against ya..capo vs foothill your senior year...you ate us up. Always rooted for ya at SC ( my dad went there..in early 6os and highschool friends and a teamte with your uncle and mother..at Huntington Park) I later played music so knew you had a band ...anyways we had similar problems in life...so just hope you're well and happy. Been to some of the same places..the farm ..lacy..etc. Always heard you were solid. That's good. Anyways ... I do enjoy the art I have seen from you. So I guess as a fan of you as a player and artist and Trojan ( I didn't attend there..just Trojan family..I went to Fullerton jc..hung up cleats after injury and did music..) Anyways respect and my best wishes to you and big Brad Leggit..fight on

Doug Plank is still to this day one of the most underrated hardest hitting Safety's in NFL HISTORY PERIOD. I think Doug Plank is the reason Buddy Ryan called his defense The 46, because that was Plank's jersey number and that defense was to represent the way Plank played the game.. HIT HARD ON EVERY DOWN THAT YOU'RE OUT THERE..

Paul was a great QB for SC back in the day. As he said...he had a lot of good days. I wonder if Oct 13th 1979 is one of the bad days. As a huge SC fan I never forgotten the heartbreak after they let an inferior Stanford team come back and tie them up 21-21...after leading 21-0 at half. That one lackluster half of football kept (in my opinion) the most talent laden team in college football history from winning the National Championship that year. 42 years later and it is still annoying. :)
