I haven't tried that kind of foam, but I just did some EVA foam (the kind of foam in those tile floor mats) and some other dense foam (the kind of foam they ship fragile items in). I used a 1/8 and a 1/16 downcut endmill for foam (not sure what's different, but it says is for foam). The surface, sides, and bottom (for the areas where I cut pockets) was perfectly clean. You couldn't ask for a better cut.

Awesome! Once you can get that PDF into a editable file format, like DXF, it can go into just any program the user prefers. When I made this video, SketchUp was the free "go to" software at the time. Heck, I still use SketchUp when I want to draw something quick in 3D to get a idea out of my head 🙂. If I want 2D, I'm all about AutoCAD. I'm glad this video will help you, that's I put it out there 👍

@@pump4546 I'm simply used to AutoCAD. The only issue is being very carefull to re-scale the image to the proper size. I'm just using a low buck diode laser. I've also been working on HO scale wall modules. The modules are for multi story industrial buildings 1900 through 1950. I can't cut MDF or thicker plywood. So I've been looking at using Canson Mi-Tense illustration board. It cuts and takes engraving nicely. Only the individual bricks in the bond patterns are very fragile. Just touch them with a hobby knife and they pop right off. The solution. Flood them with a 1:1 solution of PVA and distilled water. When thoroughly dry the are much more manageable. The illustration board is a nice blend between cost and rigidity.

Oh my! When I watched this I thought to myself "he's just using the cheaper - easy to peal - foam board.." But still I gave it a try on faom board that I've used for years for rc modeling and allways had a strugle pealing the paper off... and WOW! It works!?!? I'm still in shock from this such simple, thogh usefull, amzing video! Where have you been all these years?!? Thank you so much for this incredible tip!

"Will print right out of the box" Not my box. Stupidly, as I was probably ready for a first print, I watch ed videos saying that I needed to update the firmware drivers... kaplooie! Hopefully this is fixable, but the community is an uncoordinated herd of cats who think they are engineers. Very disappointed in the terrible instructions from Tevo, very disappointed in the gaps in instructional videos. People know good and useful things. but fail to clearly depict and explain. I am considering donating it to Goodwill and forgetting I was ever interested.

One quick question: I see the y axis is only supported by single metal column. The printer that I have (Prusa i3) has support on both sides of the platform on y-axis (usual - Trantula is unusual). My concern is that I know when I have to remove a print from the bed, I have to apply quite a bit of force and that pulls the bed up, but having it supported from both ends helps. I am afraid with this, it will easily cause the bed to mis-align and start leaning on one side or the other sooner or later. Is that not the case? Is it solid and well supported? Thanks for your help.

thanks for the video tutorial. Btw i have a question : If i want to upgrade a standard tevo to auto level. where can i get the sensor ? i checked tevo doesn't sell the sensor separatedly. So if i buy from other brand or the generic sensor (for other prusa like sunhokey or zonestar) , will i get the compatibility issue ? Do you have any idea about this ? Actually, Tevo has the unit with autolevel installed already but that''s an extra $45 compared to other prusa which only need to add $10 to upgrade to autolevel.

What I do not like about that printer is that it is not 24v. The second thing is the over use of plastic parts that will break (especially around the wheels) if not very careful.

Todd Optional I am a member of the closed group and so many people report the printer snaps at one of the wheels so the first thing everyone is told to do is to print another set of the RP because eventually you will need it.
@pump4546
@pump4546 8 жыл бұрын
+Dark Alchemist ... I am member of the group as well but I have not been following it lately.. All I can go by is my experience and after 8 months with the machine, it's still working good for a cheapo printer.. If parts fail, make new. It really does not surprise me that "stock" parts are breaking. If someone does not want to mess with broken part's or having to print new, spend the money and get a top of the line machine.
@thebeststooge
