The gunk freezing on the Ceres/Blasted Ceres map start is the trickiest part! Through testing I realised a few things you might be interested in knowing: -Gunk in the outhouse takes a bit of time to freeze, so if the dupes empty it right away, it's generally safe. The problem comes with the dupes going to sleep mode right after using the outhouse, so I changed the schedule in early game to have work time in between rest time and sleep time, to allow them to empty outhouses first and then sleep. - Gunk stored in the apothecary won't change temp, so as long as your dupes transfer it from the outhouses quickly, you are safe from it freezing. It's only when it's left on the ground too long that it can freeze. - Once gunk in the apothecary reaches 80kg or more, it will separate out that 80kg and trigger a request for a dupe to come and create a balm. That 80kg will start to drop in temp due to the surroundings slowly and eventually freeze if left, so you want to make sure they have a high priority and complete the creation of balm quickly. The rest of the gunk that didn't get separated from the 80kg request will continue to remain at the same temp and won't freeze. Essentially you're sort of safe if you rush apothecary and ensure its set to make balm at a high priority and also setting outhouse cleaning at a high priority and adding in some work time between your rest time and sleep time. This gives you a bit of breathing room early game until you can set up an area that's warmer and can handle the gunk without freezing.

FYI Can give Bupes duplicates of the same booster to increase their skill. When you got the researching booster from the pod, you could have given it to your researcher to increase their attribute from +5 to +10 Boosters is the only way they get better at a skill, so cramming them full of the main skill they are doing make them faster at it.

I learned this lesson. What messes up your calculations is that bionic dupes don't exhale CO2 either so alveo vera's grow a lot slower as well and are not as good at oxygen early game as regular dupes. I realised that with the ice liquefier you can build an electrolyser and dupes will handfeed an electrolyser manually. I just made sure to trap the hydrogen above and pump it into a generator that was charging batteries and I had early oxygen a lot easier than I thought (you don't need to create any pools or pumps etc - I would recommend doing this if you try it again. It took ages to heat up the area due to it being ceres and was enough time to set up a proper spom. The other thing I learned was that ceres is not nice to gunk. I ended up getting any ice liquefier mod that lets you melt gunk in the liquefier otherwise you get stock on that for so long.

I don't know if you discussed it in a different video but why conduction panels in the volcano tamer? I thought radiant pipes were more effective, or at least thats what I've heard.
@BierTier29 күн бұрын
For this kind of Tamer, the Conduction Panels are great because they are easy to use and do everything you need. All you are trying to accomplish is to keep the Steam Turbines below 100C. Radiant pipes with a liquid are more effective, but cost more and take more time/effort to set the system up for really no gain. So my metal volcano tamer works perfectly with the panels and makes it more user friendly at the same time!
@Banksy_Collective29 күн бұрын
@@BierTier Awesome thanks! I don't really understand conduction panels yet, they seem like they should be really effective but everyone says they are really bad.
@BierTier29 күн бұрын
@Banksy_Collective They are not bad. They are less effective if they are not in a vacuum, which is the case in the tamer in most if not all cases. But again, still works like a charm!

The issue with the aquatuner, not the automation wire, has something to do with the free update because i had the same issue but i don't own the Bionic DLC. It keeps breaking at the exact same place like yours and i even broke the whole darn thing up and build it again with the same result.

Those radiant pipe snakes are so wasteful. You're causing new people to struggle for metals. You only need long snakes in things like sour gas boilers or regolith melters where the temperature differences are several hundred degrees. Lol, 1 oxygen pump isn't going to supply 20+ dupes. More like 5 dupes. Not even that in practice since digging and starting up atmo suits also costs oxygen. I clicked on this to learn why people like the hydra so much. I don't think you touched on that "vs" very much. I guess it's the infinite storage? But infinite storage is just resources you paid for but have not benefited from. Is there any other benefit?

Sorry, commented too early.. I would like to know why all of you KZbinrs use Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. Are none of you from American schools? I have a great handle on all of this, so I don't really need the temp settings, but I always have to convert Celcius or temporarily change the in-game settings when I did need to know. Why anyone uses Celcius for these types of figures when Fahrenheit works so much better and more accurate, I do not know. Also, I don't hear one mention of how much water you added to this super-sized steam box.. Of course, I can figure it up, but it seems like a big oversight for such an important detail. Thanks for the video.. Very nice.
@BierTierАй бұрын
We use Celcius, because Celcius is used in basically all countries but the US. It is also a scientific unit used by most large companies, scientific research organizations and even NASA. It is also generally easier to use and understand with the boiling point of water being 100C and the freezing point being 0C. Something easy to imagine for anyone. It is really the worldwide standard, just the US lags behind. The amount of steam is ~50kg per tile for basically any steam chamber!
@shaneh1003Ай бұрын
@@BierTier I just remember not knowing how to figure up how much water to add for steam/tile.. these days I just use an injection and relief port through the ST return if I want more or less steam, but a beginner has serious issues with how much water to add for steam/tile. Really just messing with you about the Fahrenheit/Celcius deal. I know very well why Celcius is used; for simplicity, mainly, but also because of how wide-spread it has been taught and used over Fahrenheit. Has nothing to do with anyone lagging behind. Fahrenheit has a far broader range for accuracy, but unless you know it well and have the intellect to make sense of it, it is definitely not for simple minds. Considering your channel is "German Engineering", I would expect Fahrenheit over Celcius. Thanks for your reply.. The ONI tutorials have always been very much appreciated. Without them, the vast majority of players wouldn't make it very far.
@BierTierАй бұрын
I’m certain that there is not a single German Engineer using Fahrenheit for anything 😂 And Celsius have decimals just like Fahrenheit for a reason, the accuracy argument is a fallacy. Fahrenheit are more precise, but not more accurate. That is a big difference! On the topic of how to measure how much water for steam/tile: Take the total area of your steam chamber(for example: 10tiles wide by 3tiles high = 30tiles). Multiply the desired amount of steam with that area(50kgx30tiles = 1500kg). Divide that by your width(1500kg/10tiles = 150kg/tile). Add water before starting up the Aquatuner until the bottom 10 tiles have reached 150kg/tile of Water. Water converts to steam 1:1: Easy math that can be done within seconds and never has to be touched again, as long as no steam escapes 😊

one more question, instead of the filter and meter valve, the "mechanical filter" couldn't be an option?
@BierTier2 ай бұрын
The mechanical filter would be an option instead of the filter, but the metering valve is needed to control the exact amount of liquid being dropped on the tile by the pump. That is highly important, so no liquid ever leaves that tile and comes into contact with the Niobium!
@Redneck3532 ай бұрын
with the tile under the left part of the pump as a thungstene pressure plate ( or hydro sensor to not mess with the insulation line under) couldn't that be used to turn of the pump instead of a manual switch? iirc that one would not melt Edit: I'm dumb, forgot about overheat temp, don't mind that one!
