This disaster has been inevitable since a great nation was handed over to idiots. Same wherever the idiots somehow get power...no qualifications, no knowledge, no IQ over room temperature and this is what you get....crapholes.

I can’t imagine the type of hell El Salvadorans experienced before Bukele, which is why their euphoria at finally feeling and being safe and the sacrifices that came with it is understandable. However, I cannot help, but to be concerned about innocents being imprisoned. It’s easy to say it’s a price that must be paid for safety, but imagine you’re in prison because someone assumed you were a criminal. And, from what others have said, their situations are fucked in there. It’s easy to praise a criminal who is suffering, but not only are some innocents locked up, they could be suffering as well??? There has to be a better way. Consolidated power. It’s dangerous to expect the power to be broken up or no further loopholes to be found whenever Bukele leaves office. And hopefully he doesn’t die unexpectedly. This is all under the assumptions that he remains a benevolent dictator. I find it strange that murder/crime is at 0 or close to it because all criminals were locked up when, just about damn near everywhere else, crimes are committed by more than career criminals. No crimes of passion, jealousy, business deals gone wrong??? There’s no way to plan for that. It’s really hard to say whether or not he’s cooking these numbers or if people are so happy that they don’t commit crimes that even the most developed and least crime riddled countries also have. Or maybe those rates just refers to career criminals no longer killing.

In college, my business class got to take a behind the scenes tour of Disney World and learn more about the park and its operations. We got to meet the CFO of Disney Parks and pick his brain about their business philosophy and park operations. While everything he said was insightful, the quote that stuck with me was "We'll take the same ride that another park builds, add 10x that cost on theming, and get 100x the revenue of that original ride". Really taught me alot about the value of experience and design in creating real business value

The criticisms of the class 1 rrs is spot on here. However, Amtrak is terrible because Amtrak is terrible. Passenger rail just isn't profitable and will never again compete with automobiles and planes. There's always an excuse, and blaming Freight rail is convenient, but in the end, they're just excuses. As freight rail consolidated and shut down lines, why didn't passenger rail pick them up? Why don't passenger lines have a comprehensive network of old freight lines now only maintained for light traffic? Because it hasn't been profitable since ww2. That's why.

It's not a blessing to share a border with the world's largest economy. It's exactly the opposite. This is more of a patriotic blind perception, far from the reality. Think of the negative effects Rome had on all it's surrounding lands and governments. Many were taxed and corrupted by it, because of its consumerist Empire, just like the US. When Rome fell, many more prospered. Why? Because those spoils and wealth with was robbed and taken from other lands was once again shared and oppression in that scale ceased to exist. It gave rise to those other countries who kept being bombarded by corruption through Roman officials. Much like the US through the CIA, Military installations, American Embassies, UN intervention. Proxy wars by the US, weapons sold to insurgents and Militias by the US. So yeah, it's not a blessing to have king Xerxes and Babylon as you neighbor.

China may be a lot if not good things but its commitment to Climate change is extraordinary. It’s not only built the worlds largest Hydro Dam it’s build an even larger Dam, Yarlung Zangbo dam, along with other hydro dams, the same with Solar and wind. In all three China is building more than the rest of the world combined. The problem is it cannot keep up either growing power consumption. In time that will improve

America and countries in Europe have experienced similar situations, when manufacturers of shoes, clothes, home appliances, etc., flocked out of those countries. Korea and Japan have also experienced the same thing. But the situation did not make these countries experience an economic crisis or bankruptcy. Why? Because it is a matter of competitive advantage, comparative advantage, and a matter of ordinary market mechanisms. If it is now starting to happen in China, it is indeed time for China to experience a similar transition after years of mass low-wage labor-based industries. When China starts producing airplanes, electric cars, superconductors, etc. it is just a necessity for a country that has entered the "advanced" level. Selling 1 airplane is worth more than selling thousands of shoes from a dozen shoe factories in the Ningbo area. That's also why America can still able to compete with China in term of GDP etc, even though the low-labor manufacturing industry left America many years ago.

The LCS never was designed to replace frigates. They were designed to replace the Avenger class and Cyclone class ships. Since their target were asymmetrical, survivability was secondary. Yes, they problems you mentioned did happen. I am curious where did you find reporting that the LCS were supposed to be the future of the U.S. Navy? They were supposed to free up destroyer so they could do the harder missions. Here is an example. The Bell V-280 is supposed to replace all of the Blackhawks. LCS were designed assist destroyer so destroyers could do other jobs. Now LCS have the mine hunting modules working and can also be motherships to drones.

The irony is that I can’t get a standard experience across franchises in my city if I tried. 😂 I can’t even get the standard experience in the same “restaurant”. After I experienced the master-level standardization in Japan and seeing how much more expensive stuff is over here for much worse quality, I became so disillusioned by what franchises do in the US that I pretty much stopped going to them (except on very rare occasions) and started actively being a regular patron of local shops. (Though tbh I hadn’t eaten a non-McFlurry item at McDonalds in over a decade, even when I went to Japan, so it’s not like I was a huge fan of franchises to begin with.)
