$10 parking, $5 per person. Biggest tourist trap on earth. I'll pass. I go for ocean, surfing, boogie boarding, body surfin. I can see plenty of land scenery on mainland.

The cup refill also cost money? Per day or just once 35$?
@thesavvysightseer2 ай бұрын
It’s just the one time cost of $35, and refills are free.

So when you went to Honolulu to stay at Aulani, did you use the Roberts Hawaii Airport Express or did you use the shuttle transportation that Allied provides to and from the airport? Did you ever get a chance to do the circle Island tour cause you can do that in addition to just staying at the resort, you can call one of the tour companies that they have in Hawaii and you can reserve the circle Island tour. It’s all day. Did you get a chance to do that?
@thesavvysightseer2 ай бұрын
We actually rented a car. We spent the first half of our vacation in Waikiki, because we wanted more of a central location to go out and explore the island. We knew we wouldn't be at the hotel much when we were doing these things, so we stayed at the Hyatt Regency there. Then, our second half of our vacation we stayed at Aulani, and never left. It was really the best of both worlds. When we were staying in Waikiki, we did an island tour, but based on a lot of recommendations, I did the one through the Shaka app. This is self-guided, so we could go at our own pace. It was exactly what we wanted. I plan on making more videos about all of the other stuff we did while on Oahu, along with the self-guided tour. But I'm also a teacher and once school starts, my time is very limited. I hope once I have break coming up soon, I can start getting those videos out.

Questions: did you have a rental car? Did you use magic bands?
@thesavvysightseer4 ай бұрын
We did have a rental car. But the main reason we had one was because we spent our first half of our vacation in Waikiki, because we knew we would traveling all over the island. Once we got to Aulani, we didn't leave. So, if you plan on staying at Aulani and not leaving, you don't have to have a rental car. But if you want to explore around the island, then I highly suggest one. We didn't use Magic Bands. You can use your room key all over the resort to pay for things, so to us, it was just as convenient.

I had a residence in Wainiha valley throughout the 90's. You can't do a food tour without mentioning Hamura's in Lihue, or featuring local food. Not a review that's really going to feature the island's best. Mainland food with a mainland review 😝

I've stayed in this hotel a number of times and I agree, the rooms are nothing special. The grounds and common areas are very nice and so is the pool but the pool does get very crowded, to the point that finding a chair is very difficult. The food and drinks are good but VERY pricey. We generally bring a small soft side cooler and bring our own drinks out by the pool. The daily "resort fee" that is tacked on to the bill is a bit annoying, especially if you are staying at the hotel in the winter when the pool and the other outdoor activities are not available and even in summer when the benefit of the "resort fee" is hard to recognize. All in all, I would give this hotel a 7.5-8/10 rating. As a side note; all beaches on Hilton Head are open to the public, there are no private beaches, so anywhere you go you will have to share beach space with the public. Some beaches have easier access for the public and those beaches will be much more crowded than the ones with more limited access. The Sonesta is located inside Shipyard Plantation so beach access is limited to residents and guests of the plantation so the beaches are less crowded than the beaches that are accessible by public property.

Girl thank you so much for the tips! Any chance maybe you could try doing just a simple 350 millisecond dissolve transition for the next one though? All of the varying transitions made the video a little nauseating. Okay wow Michael that sounded super harsh tone it down a notch. What I meant to say was I think a simple consistent transition from one photo to the next would do your channel some good! 🙂 Thank you again you helped us out on our next trip.

Great video. As a North Carolina native, I learned some things. Haha! I lived in Raleigh for six years, and I do wish I’d taken time to visit the museums. One note: I believe you said y’all went to Chapel Hill to see the Duke campus. Duke is located in Durham. 😊 Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill are deep rivals! Really deep. 😮😂
