How do you not have more likes?! I have been watching so many Kauai videos and stumbled across yours and you gave me the coolest and most interesting advice yet. For example, not one other person has ever mentioned Bethany Hamilton when talking about Tunnels Beach. Maybe they don’t like the shark attack aspect but I love Bethany and it made me want to see the beach more. Thanks for your tips!!

Love the video and I have done most of these plus other excursions on this fabulous island. The whole vibe is very laid back with few crowds.

Was there just recently stayed at grand hyatt, really nice. Them went to Princeville to 1 Hotel and that was fantastic. Little bit of rain but nothing compared to last time in princville when it rained 50 plus inches in 24 hours. Brutal but still had fun.

Great info! I too have same issue with pineapple. Found somewhere online to rinse it with lukewarm water before eating. I was amazed it worked!

I've been to Kauai many times. Back in the early 1980's there were no reservations, waiting lists or fees for any of these things. The population and number of tourists was much less. Kauai was so much more pristine and unspoiled. There was no Costco or Wal Mart there back then. Times have changed. So sad.

Which month were you there? Any suggestions as to when would be a good time to visit these places?
@thesavvysightseer10 ай бұрын
We were there in March of 2023. We experienced the rainiest weather we have ever had on any of the islands and it did impact us seeing Waimea Canyon, which was a bummer. But we have been in March several times before and had no issue with rain. We were told that last year was unusually rainy. If you want to go during the driest months to get the best chance of little to no rain, which is what could affect seeing these things, then April through September would be your best bet. If you avoid the summer months, your airfare would probably be cheaper, too. But one thing to know is that Kauai is the rainiest of all the islands, and it is completely normal to experience rain no matter which time you go. But it usually doesn't affect you much. I hope this helps!

Can the south shore, Falls and Waimea canyon be done in one day?
@thesavvysightseer11 ай бұрын
It depends on which falls you are wanting to see and where you are staying on the island. Wailua Falls is a super quick stop, right in Lihue. So, depending on where you are staying, this is could easily be added to any day you there. When we went five years ago, we were staying in Kapaa, and just stopped on our way to Poipu. This last time, we were staying in Poipu, and stopped while we were in Lihue, shopping around. Also, it depends on how much you want to do while at Waimea Canyon. If you just want to get out and take in the views, you could probably shove it all in. But if you want to take in all the Canyon has to offer, that alone could take all day. Our time prior, we spent all day up at the canyon. This last time, we had planned to do the same, but it had been raining so much, it took the hike we wanted to do, out of the equation. As for the South Shore, again, if you aren't staying here, this could be one day all by itself. There are lots of dining options, Poipu beach, the Spouting Horn, and many more things. If you really want to take in what the South Shore and Waimea Canyon have to offer, I wouldn't recommend doing them in the same day.

What trail were you going to take at the canyon? Is it easy?@@thesavvysightseer
@thesavvysightseer7 ай бұрын
@@Seek_Him We were going to do the Pihea Trail Hike. I've never done it, but was recommended in the this guidebook: amzn.to/4ahWOHP According to the guidebook, it's only 2 miles round trip, and the book says, "If you only do one hike while visiting the canyon area, this is the one you want." Supposedly it's very scenic.
