Jeremy Saul When I spent a month in Chitral more than two decades ago I became a fan of Chitrali music, and I even bought some Chitrali music tape cassettes that I eventually digitized years later. I had some memorable moments spending time in tents with Chitralis up in the mountains during festive occasions. Once, at the annual polo match at Shandur Pass, it seemed like every group there was dancing and singing in their tents each evening. Another time, on a multi-day walk in the Hindu Kush, I came across a whole field of shepherds that were having their annual get-together, again with singing and dancing in their tents. So, whenever I listen to my Chitrali music recordings, it's a valued pathway to those lively days.
