Very nice! I have a 12 set which I have put up to try in winter. They were joyfully jumping all over my hand in summer … at least I thought they were. Probably just super soft and they wanted me to use my hands on them. 😂 It’s winter & your well timed video reminded me that it’s time to get them out for a go. Thank you.

Thanks for this video! I got some Artistro paint markers and tried it out on glossy paper and noticed too the paint peels off if it gets dry and I try to apply another layer. It's quite a tricky medium! But good to know the kit helped you get some structured practice in to work with these markers. It might help me too. How often do you clean your markers by the way? The manufacturer recommended me to wipe all the marker tips with wet paper towel after each use, but it's a bit nuts since I could use 20-30 different markers per painting...
@wingedjedi_art2 ай бұрын
@@IsaChen-uy8br Thank you for your kind comment! ☺️ You could try your markers on some watercolor paper, if you have some. They should work fine, but they probably won't blend very well. Might help with the layering, though. I struggle sometimes with simplifying complex scenes and I've found this art kit and this medium really helpful in practicing this. I keep a tissue nearby and immediately wipe my marker on it after using it. The only time I don't wipe them is if I'm trying to blend two colors. But I will still wipe my marker afterwards to make sure that the tip won't clot. Usually I only need one or two quick passes over the tissue before the marker is clean. Never wiped them on wet tissue, to be honest. Happy painting! ☺️
@IsaChen-uy8br2 ай бұрын
@@wingedjedi_art Ah thanks for the reply! Good to know all it takes is a simple wipe to get the excess paint off and that already helps with preventing clotting.
@wingedjedi_art2 ай бұрын
@@IsaChen-uy8br Sorry, I should clarify that I only wipe them if I have used them with other colors, to prevent them from muddying or getting clotted. I also pump them on the tissue to get the paint flowing, but I don't feel the need to completely wipe the paint off them after using them. My markers have survived well for 1.5 years at this point.

@@wingedjedi_art it's good for mixed media and urban sketching but its responsiveness with watercolours is awful. You get like one good wash/splash of colour and the rest you'll have to bring out with markers, pens, pencils, etc.

I have the dot cards that come in the small box. It’s good to get dot cards to preview paints. There is a lot of paint in a dot. 😊 Sometimes I only take the dot cards out for urban sketching & leave my pallet at home. I’m using every last bit because you’re right, they can be expensive when making a custom pallet. Great painting!
@wingedjedi_art2 ай бұрын
@@ladyhollman9534 Dot cards are so helpful! I've wasted some money buying paints based on their online preview images before (ended up with paints that look super similar in person), so now I see the wisdom in getting dot cards and taking a look in person before buying paint. I particularly love the Mijello dot cards because the dots are huge - you can definitely take those outside for some sketching. Thank you for commenting and happy painting! ☺️

A beautiful choice for a painting, and I love all the blue gradients you created here! This cemented my wish to get more flat brushes, it looks so intuitive and quick to paint with those. btw, bright red colors always seem so difficult to pull off, but here, you made them come together beautifully <3
@wingedjedi_art3 ай бұрын
Thank you! Actually most of my Gouache brushes are flat. I rarely paint leaves/foliage where I'd need round brushes. I find flat or angled brushes easier to use, especially when it comes to creating gradients or smooth washes. And red is such a tricky color for a subject, especially when it comes to creating highlights, since mixing it with white only gives you pink. I think I managed to pull it off reasonably well here. Thank you for your kind words! 🥰

I love the ominous, but slightly ambiguous music while you are describing your issues with the pens. It make your review seem like a dire warning. Lol. Only for weirdos like me. Thank you. I will be buying these. I'm buying the Earth set and then since I'm just a beginner with these pens, the Sharpie Creative pens for standard colors. I highly recommend them. The tip is more like a flexible Bruch. I heard the Karin paint markers are like that. I will buy the big set if I like them. These things are as addictive as fountain pen ink. Wow. Thanks again. I do like the music, but that's because my band Egret Zero sounds like what you chose. Have a great day.

Aw, thank you for your kind comment! I've had these markers for around 1.5 years by now and they are still going strong. Occasionally I will have a little problem with too much paint coming out, but only with one or two markers. I think you will love the Earth set. They have also released more sets and I've tempted to grab more.... Addicting indeed! Thank you for sharing your band! Your style is similar to the ambient background music I often choose. And you even have a song called "Sketching at the table"! 🤩

@@wingedjedi_art Thank you. During Covid I had a resurgence of a traumatic brain injury I thought I had mostly recovered from. It was 10x worse. It had lots of effects. I was completely unmasked. I had been living as a diagnosed autistic since the mid 1970s but blew it off as unimportant. I essentially lost my identity and had no bandwidth to attempt fitting into neurotypical society anymore, and I had what seems to be a genuine artistic un-bottling. I made over a thousand pieces of music, while drawing for the first time, obsessively and still eating and sleeping, Now I have a ton of instrumental music (on my Mute Cartography channel and hard drives) . I even started a podcast which os a collaborative storytelling, art and music thing. It's also very personal and discusses my use of psychedelic plants to rewire my brain. It's working. I'm using my music and art in it and want to collaborate with other musicians, artists, thinkers, everyday people with deep interests. Anyway. Sorry. Check out The Brian & Wolfgang Show, The True Power Of Punk Rock if you feel like it. You might like it. Thanks for the content and reply.

I have a love for eastern watercolors in general. I had no idea there was a similar set of 20 colors! I loved the book of fantasty illustrations. That book might deserve its own video. I find angus mcewan art inspiring and you might too! Maybe check out his website if you get a chance. He has workshops online and some free ones that i found excellent. Theres a few videos on youtube of him as well showing how to do some really interesting textural efffects. Im going to be taking the textures in watercolor class on terracotta website as its much more affordable. Im really into textures and also really love his artwork of transient spaces as he calls it. I had no idea you could use watercolor in the way he uses it with some of his techniques! I almost cried when i saw the painting of the cat. I recently lost my beloved white cat this year and her brother is all i have left and hes a senior and not doing well since her passing and your painting looks EXACTLY like him! 😢 What a precious gift to your brother.
