Unless you're of an Anglo-Saxon nation and speaking in English, you will never be a real contender. Right up to 2024 when Croatia should have won, I can clearly see the prejudice and politics. All Slavonic countries need to boycott Eurovision from now on and create their own competition amongst their own nations in their own dialects not English!!! Furthermore bring back wholesomeness to all of the performances.

70s were the best, with Tereza the best of all entries. What a big, dramatic song, beautifully and powerfully sung. She had a real Mediterranean flair and her phrasing often has birdsong flourishes, or is reminiscent of the flute she also played (not here so much becsuse of the nature of the song). And how interesting that two Croatian entries are from Dubrovnik, 1968 really doing the most out of historical heritage. Shame Yugoslavia decided to pull out after Ambasadori - beautiful song and Ismeta was a fantastic interpreter. The result wasn't so bad either. Pepel in kri were fantastic too, so gently likting and Korni Grupa certainly a bit more unusual and highbrow entry. In comparison 1960s entries seem rather stern and stiff, lightened up towards the end of the decade a little. But what happened that Sabahudin Kurt earned no points? Beautiful song.

In the past three years, I became enamored with Italian pop music….mostly Umberto Tozzi, but definitely others. I think the language is so beautiful sounding. I’ve picked up some Italian because I listen to the music all the time. It’s really great to see so many familiar people on this list.

IMHO the most underrated performer of them all is Vice Vukov 1963 and 1965. That guy was a word class, and it is such a shame that his career went to nowhere. He got a label of Croatian nationalist and as an artist he was under complete ban, forbidden performer, until 1990 in independent Croatia and than big comeback, but in meantime he becomes a lawyer and politician
