Most intriguing. I was brought here as this was mentioned as one of to most difficult piano pieces to play. As I understand, the young Busoni was introduced to Liszt, who was a fan of Busoni's known skills at the piano. Please come visit my page of A432hz music conversions, which include many pivotal Classical recordings, as well as restorations of vintage music footage. - _The A432-Zone_

An all-around joyous and happy piece; rare for Shostakovich. I love it to death, though. It has all the wit and sarcasm of Shostakovich, mixed with playfulness and some beautiful melodies. And the interplay between piano and orchestra is top-notch.

Does anyone have any idea why Dvorak writes the opening section out in such tiny little demisemiqiaver notes making it very hard to read and count and at such a slow tempo? Then when the allegro begins the notes are longer but played faster. Makes no sense!

I think it's not often that a second movement stands out so well but here it's by far my favorite in the set.

Chamber music can be a challenge for me, mainly because it so often pushes the envelope on chromaticism. Brahms, on the other hand, takes a rather symphonic approach and this quintet is a prime example. I never feel lost or without my bearings in his chamber works. Bravo, Mr B!
