I watched this at The Dukes Playhouse in Lancaster this when it was first released. I was young. I must have watched it 100 times since minimum and I’m 58 now……its a comfort and a pleasure to watch it every single time

Thank you for uploading this film Makes me so sad that that's all gone - been concreted over 70% reduction in wildlife since the sixties... the older concreted parts are now derelict.....

CORRECTION: David O. Russell's masterpiece 'Spanking the Monkey', I bought the movie when it came out (on video I think). It's one of those films with a strong theme, but it has the genius of not boxing you in, and that makes all the difference in telling a story. It will be a cult film one day, if it isn't already.

Maybe I'm a weirdo, but I can't identify with Stewart's character at all. I have never wanted a woman I have dated to be someone else. Sure, all individuals have preferences in terms of what they like (I love to see women in thongs not because I dated women who wore them but because I think all asses look great in them), but I wouldn't get involved with someone unless I deeply loved everything about them, so I just don't get it.

Vertigo might be in the top five films of all time, but it doesn't deserve its recent overtaking of Citizen Kane for three reasons: 1. The main antagonist is never confronted or arrested for his crime. The film simply forgets the character and we never see him after Novak's character meets her end (and she wasn't even the one who came up with the plan). That is sloppy writing (something you do not normally see in the works of Hitchcock). 2. The plan is stupid. They shove the woman off of the tower as Stewart goes after her and then just "hide" in the shadows of that small tower? There was no way for them to leave without Stewart's character seeing them. 3. It's a beautiful film, but how are we supposed to identify with a protagonist who is a creep due to his making over a woman in the image of a past obsession? No woman would stand for that today, and it was weird and creepy even back then. Imagine if a woman tried to make a man up like one of her exes that she wanted her new guy to be.

1942 . I guess most of the men being at "The Front" meant that just as in the factories, the nation depended a lot more on female labour.

The blonde waitress in the window in the _Sally_ fragment is Marilyn Miller, a very popular Ziegfeld star. Marilyn Monroe took her first name from her.

If you ever have writer, Peter Harness, on a panel again, I suggest he be placed on an end seat. Turning his back on the actors was a bit rude. It actually looked as if he can't stand being near them! Bertie Carvel did well trying to look around Harness without being annoyed. If that was acting, well done!😁 Oh, the body language .

Fontana California had a self sufficient large steel plant. Raw materials such as iron ore Eagle Mountain California were delivered by rail most all owned by Henry J Kaiser. Finished product as beam, sheet, and plate all under one roof. Steel the very back bone of a nation’s strength. When Apollo 11 put men on the moon it was Mesabi Range sourced steel that stayed behind in the rocket blast to support the vessel and made it possible. The movie Steel Town was filmed there with the beautiful Ann Sheridan and Howard Duff. The film also featured Henry’s own line of cars produced elsewhere with his own steel. As a time line reference my 1951 Chevrolet pickup is still in service with its original equipment and engine. Quality construction of the time period so obvious as now 73 years on. 🇬🇧🫱🏼‍🫲🏻🇺🇸

Such a great collection of talent, the comic strip. For me , Bad News, Fistfull of travellers cheques, 5 go mad etc were all a major part of my comedy youth, alongside Laurel & Hardy, some mothers do ave em, and so many more during the mid 70’s through to the late &0’s ….i still quote lines from Bad News repertoire and fistfull ……absolute gold
