They always seemed to me to be awfully complicated... overthought. Too many parts to go wrong. Also, the 'pulling power' jus' don't seem to be there. A big thing: It doesn't have the grace and presence of the behemoths it shares the rails with. (Side-by-side with 'The Red Devil'... which has stance?)

She's all gone now. They couldn't wait to rip it all up. A missed opportunity for local tourism. No wonder sleepers are selling for $24 each at the Garden Shops.

Fairly certain this was Bill Peach doing the narration. I'm also fairly certain the older lady complaining the train hadn't even gained 5 minutes since Rockhampton was probably on a free pensioner pass...R.I.P the Sunlander, now replaced by an aeroplane on wheels...The Spirit of Queensland.

It made my sad to see Old Townsville and the bridge over ross creek. I did my drivers school there in 2002. Now all re-developed... what a waste. The Railways are nothing like what they were when I joined after Anna Bligh sold us off.
@stephenellwood97654 жыл бұрын
The redeveloped area is so much better, its the North Railyards that are a waste, why heavy maintanence can only be done in Brisbane is beyond me. They should rebuild the North Railyards and bring maintanence back to Townsville!
@adriannettlefold90844 жыл бұрын
@@stephenellwood9765 Townsville once was one of the biggest Traincrew Depots outside Brisbane. The North Yard was the Steam Workshops and later Diesel sheds prior to them being moved. Heavy Maintenance is still done at Stuart, but the Railway will never be the same unless the State Government takes all of it back over. QR only has the passenger trains. Aurizon was given the Stock, Grain, Freight, Coal and Minerals, Acid and Sugar. Aurizon has neglected or chased off customers, and now their business is being divided up amongst the other Companys like Pacific National, BHP, WATCO, and OneRail.

Scott Pecorino Nah. The train always had right of way. Crossing signals would be set up at traffic light locations and often the traffic lights would go red to all directions of traffic when a train was coming

@geriatricyclist19503 жыл бұрын
not quite... line still intact from Reid's Creek (just north of Gayndah) to Mungar- under lease to Isis Central Mill but as yet unused. All track and sleepers has been lifted from the northern side of Reids Ck to Taragoola, and that whole 260 km section is under Restricted Access Licence to the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail. The Dawes Range Tunnels from Barrimoon to Builyan and the section from Ubobo to Nagoorin were opened to the public last Saturday (September 11 2021) and the remainder will progressively open. A crowd of 400 filled the Barrimoon yards; 200 cyclists rode varying distances up to as far as Builyan; 50 horse riders rode sections and walkers also trekked through the tunnels. This Rail Trail not only opens the district to tourism and promotes the incredible history but also keeps the corridor in Government hands should there ever be a need to open up another railway.

Wonder were 1651 ended up thats an english electric diesel or something. Anyone who you talk to in the ARHS say that they are the best locomotive for grip and performance. Or it might be old 1541 which wasn't kept here in Australia its over seas in Chile.

You are not allowed to talk like that any more. He is horizontally challenged. Political correctness is sickening. Australians used to call a spade a spade. I rang a university and asked to speak to the landscape gardener but the woman told me he was the 'creator'. I told the stupid bitch that I did not want God on the line.
