A few switch pitch 400s may have appeared in some later production 1964 year model cars, but they were not common. Also another interesting tidbit, the TH/ST 400 transmission was actually based on the Super Turbine 300. They just added another planetary. You can actually take the torque converter, front pump and input shaft from an ST300 and install it into any non-metric TH400 and create a switch pitch TH400. You just have to replace the single blade bulkhead connector with a two blade, bulkhead connector and wire it up.

@@76629online That's great I didn't know that thanks, I have a st300 I can use as a donor if I want to convert a th400 now. I really did delete the first comment by mistake. If you hearted it I could of copied and pasted it back on from my email.🤷 The shift info should be good though, it's from Telriv if you're familiar with him. He use to deal old Buick parts. He may still not sure he was an older guy in his 70s about 7 or 8 years ago the last time I communicated with him. I did see a post yesterday from him from a year ago though so.....? I wonder if that transition transmission from 64 that might be a switch pitch still has the unique shift pattern and the ability to stay in first until the engine blows? That's the ST400 I would love to get my hands on.😎👍

As a broke, young family man my first brand new car was an 89 RS Camaro, I did not want T- tops, power windows etc., it had to have the 305 and a 5 speed, I found one in dark metallic red over black the only options listed were the V8, air conditioning (it was Florida so give me a break) and oddly enough a power hatch button, which I could have done without anyway the price out the door was $12,600.00, a bargain considering that most loaded ones were pushing 20K, I asked my pregnant with our second kid on the way if she would be okay with the 5 speed she said excitedly yes, because she would be the primary driver, but the bigger her stomach got the more she bitched about rowing her own! It was a good car and the only car that I ever paid off before trading it in

In 1988 there was only the base model and the IROC-Z. All base models had the "Camaro" badge on the back bumper and rockers. Yours looks to be a later 1988 since it has the 3 piece wrap around spoiler on the back. Early production 1988 base coupes had the "shorty wing" on the back. Nice car. I don't think I've seen that color interior before on a 3rd gen. Great candidate for an LS swap. I had several 3rd gens over the years. Enjoy the new project.

It’s definitely an 88 model. I have the title for it and it was a one owner previously. It belonged to a woman. There may have been just two “models”, but you could still equip the “base“ model with all sorts of options. This car does not have any options.

Buddy of mine had one just like this. It was his first car and he was 19, god knows how he got financing for it back then. It was base as base could be. V6, automagic, no options. He drove that mofo like it was a Z28 though lol. Another buddy of mine had a 95 Mustang v6, which was slightly fancier as it had power windows and a cd player. It was also the "new" Mustang and they were the hotness. They had the saddest drag races in those cars. To us, at the time it was cool seeing Mustang vs. Camaro, but looking back it was 90s era v6 vs v6 and both cars were slow. Still fun times though. I'm almost positive that both of those cars got repoed at some point. I know the Camaro did.

Thank you greatly for this video . Your video , was exactly what i was looking for . Your door installation looks good . Do you still have your Vette . I bought a complete ten piece body kit for my ' 90 Convertible about two weeks ago . The kit came off an ' 84 . The doors have the Ferrari Testarossa style panels . The panels have been professionally installed with Vette Adhesive, that is used to attach the full front clips , on the C3 Corvettes . So , taking the panels off the doors , aren't an option without destroying the body panels and doors . When i received the doors , there wasn't any windows , regulators , etc. Everything has been removed. I'm having to take everything , from my ' 90 doors and put into the ' 84 doors . The ' 84 does have the 4 ribbed crash bar in them and they are very heavy bare . They probably weigh at least , 60 lbs each . Your video is a great help . Wish you would have made a video of the installation , of the regulators , windows, etc . I'm mechanical inclined and will figure it out . I also plan on cutting most of the crash bar out of the ' 84 doors .
