Najib economy policies attempt to hollow out Malaysia manufacturing industries and push the country towards finance and services industry, which is something that Malaysian can't compete with wolf of the Wallstreet.

I am one of IEM council members. I'd like to know where you get the statistics that 20% engineers had left Malaysia. There are 65 IPTA/S offering engineering degrees in Malaysia. Many young graduates complaint about low wages for engineers; but from data it shows that semi-conductors MNC are paying much higher than local SMEs. So, there is no reason why the engineers not wanting to work for MNC such as Intel. Please enlighten me on your claim.

agree to learn about the people. We started a movement called Penang Hidden Gems, where we organize monthly heritage trails. There's always something we can learn about ourselves in our trail. I am glad that Prof talks about the need to learn about people and heritage. cheers!

just tried to worked with a big Malaysia semicon factory Senior engineer, couple of issues, one of it is drawing shows a 10.xxxxxxx mm hole (standard is just 1 or 2 decimal point), ask them to adjust to proper value and tolerance. they comes back with new drawing 2 weeks later, the hole diameter no change, and it was now shifted one side by 1mm, hence not going to fit other parts. We decide not to take the job after back and forth for over 1month for free, and they say we Malaysian engineers have no talent. FYI, issues like this wont happen or at least it is easily solved when we worked with overseas engineers.

At LAST post 1969, the QUOTA system had FAILED Malaysia in STEM and Innovation Sector. NO POINT employing foreign student studying in Engineering in MY. This is a LIE. No students are here in MY, if there are. They cabut back to their HOME Country because MY is NOT a welcoming Country (ie, Housing, Shopping and social). NO WAY MY will have the talent. I know a guy who has employed 30 of the Best Engineers in Chennai, INDIA with regard to Design and Fabrication of Advance Chips. India has the talent and MY has the fabrication and assembly. Join the Dots. Let Indian Malaysians and NOT other race Entrepreneurs to handle industrial opportunity.

When discussing about Malaysia brain drain issue, as usual, the big elephant in the room no one wants to discuss about. As long as the real root cause never get addressed, all other measures taken trying to mitigate this issue wont bring much effect.

I have come to believe that the development and prosperity of a country is very dependent on the quality of politicians and governance. Semi conductor industry has been in Penang since 1970’s. After 50 years and much advancement in the industry we are still playing catch up.

Yeah you right, if racists policy implemented, definitely all 5he sidelines will migrate out. China government geared the country as a Research Development and Production country. Town planning, infrastructure and high speed trains properly planned out by CCP Government. Now China are decades ahead of the western world. It's all about politics and governance.

Not enough incentive and support given to all eligible firms (disregard quota system) to encourage them to innovate and expand. Gomen don't look for long term and rather rely on foreign investors than encouraging locals to innovate. Grab for example is a good business idea but failed to get the local government to support it unless the unfair terms are accepted by Grab.

I feel that Malaysians have grown more apathetic, harder to motivate, because of this feeling that everytime they are promised something, hope is destroyed. GE14 was a huge rush. Finally, the old sytem was going away!.. but what happened? PH1 failed in 2 years, leading to a level of leaderless confusion that was unprecedented. I believe GE15 did not clarify things. Are we going to have Najib be a prominent leader again? Bridget said it is taking a LONG time for the stain of 1MBD to recede. Has it receded? PH II HAS to perform. Has to govern. And stop being an Opposition. It HAS to restore faith in the governmental system.
