The trouble i am having is when carving, i try to go slow and easy and then the bit/burr will grab and go all over the place and mess up the carving. Any suggestions?

Love this video! I've seen a lot of carvers showing us WHAT they're carving but not many show us HOW they are carving. I like the explanations and reasons for doing certain cuts instead of just doing it. Thanks!

Great video, My problem is I can't make the left side and the right side look the same. In allot of cases not even close to the same. Does this mean more practice? More patience? Should I only use a detail knife? thanks for the help

Kevin, I just started carving and Was sold white wood to use. But it has so many bump stops in it. I am a discouraged beginner. But your wood spirit is lovely!

Beautiful. What number gouges & v cut tools do you find to be most used when doing these wizards. I'm new to this & many others explain the numbers, but never let on what are they're most used tools. At $40+ each for the Pfeil tools, I don't wannt to be buying ones that may seldome be used or are almost duplicates to others. Thanks

I find a number 5 to 8 for noses and 1/8 to 1/4 inch vtools will do the trick for most carvings.

Kevin makes it look so easy. I have been wanting to learn carving for years now. I am on disability and it takes what seems like forever to get the tools. Thanks for taking your time to help people like me get started!! 😊

You're welcome Teresa, collect your tools one at a time if you have to and before you know it you'll have plenty. Also most of these carvings can be done with your knife also. we will show other ways to detail in future videos. Thanks for watching.

great video series,am well impressed. Can you give details of your vee carving tool, size shape etc. All the ones I've seen are straight handled and straight blade, I like the curve in your shaft. Regards, Tony.
@kevinscarvings663 Жыл бұрын
i believe that is a 1/8 inch curved vtool if you check amazon Flexcut sells them.

I would say Flexcut Amy Jo, they are pretty good and fairly inexpensive.
