I was looking some of your videos this week, can I ask a weirdo tip?! How I clean a ruller withou ruined the number? I try and I ruined one. How you deal with mold in paper? I lost some watercolor paper to mold, the yelow mold. =( , and some old ugly draw the paper are mold!!! have a great week I don't have any draw watercolor book , I try search other day some book to watercolor mixing, but didn't find in pdf. In your reorganaizing video show your face you look very young !!! I'm 38 I have soe white hair now but people usually give me 25-29 years, can i ask you yor age?

Just being silly Holly. I'm always overdressed for summer weather. 😅 There is a Polar 🐻 Bear Club in the city that jumps in winter water to raise money for charity but I would not ever do that. No worries!! Looking forward to seeing your ink drawing. ❤😊 me.

lol Omgosh that wasn’t clear at all to me because I was so focused on the stripes in the background and wondering how you were so amazing at watercolor and getting depth and texture and the water control from only one course -AND the ink work( it looked like ) in her bangs which I also marveled at, so no-but now I see it and feel a wee bit stupid!😂

@Temmah_tjJc Don't worry. Nobody who has seen the painting has ever either noticed or said anything about it. I don't think i made it obvious enough, so the joke is lost unless I point it out. Or maybe it just doesn't really look like a blow-up doll since I have never seen one in person🤷♀️😅

@elena-buya Hi Elena😀. After your post, I checked out your channel. You are an amazing artist. I am sure your book will get a lot of interest! Are you making a zine or traditional? Kickstarter, self-publish or traditional publisher? I am also working on a book (a children's picture book). But I am going to try to go the traditional publishing route, which involves much rejection and tears along the way (but I will survive 😅)

@@hdubsart1462 thank you so much 😊 I was thinking of something small like zine format, where I share sketchbook pages on one half and helpful tips on another half. Probably self publish small amount. Just want to built a little helpful library on different topics and get experience in making books. I think with children books it’s better to go traditional way because it’s difficult to market them otherwise 🤔

@elena-buya You are right, I am horrible at marketing. Also, the business end of art something is totally not my strong suit, which is why I stay away from selling prints and stickers and all the ways younger artists are becoming solvent right now. But for all the artists willing to put in that kind of work, I think it is really empowering for those artists and for the art world as a whole👍👍👍. I will totally buy your zine when it comes out😀

What a useful and informative reference!!! I can’t believe I haven’t seen some of those artists at all-You Tube really is an enormous place, isn’t it!? I have watched Sketchbook Skool a number of times, but I think that’s the extent of my knowledge of these extremely talented folks. The books are beautiful and each of the artists’ work is incredible (but-I still enjoy your work the most!)…🫶🏻

You are the artist and it's ultimately your decision, but watercolour would keep the theme more, plus you can always add little details in an array of other medium - pencils, ink, acrylic, gouache etc. Alternatively, you could make the portrait stand out rather than blending in, with neon colours, or adding gold and silver, or do just a tonal drawing using graphite pencil. Whatever you choose, it will look fantastic like the rest of the painting.

@pebblesthecat3625 Thanks for all the suggestions👍🙂. I think part of the problem I was having is that my reference photo does not have a lot of detail in the skin and face--almost like a Polaroid. I think this limits my options because i don't have clear shadows to work with and render. This has been an issue in the past with my reference photos. But I decided to make this portrait of Sean based on a picture my husband had on his phone-- Sean's facial expression was really great. Anyway, thanks for presenting so many options🌻🧁. i am hoping to pull it all together without ruining the feel of the painting. I will post the result in the coming week.

@Glow_88 Thanks🙂 The skill and patience were acquired with time and practice, And it can be attained by all 👍😀. Definitely try inks! But not all inks are waterproof (if you are looking to paint over them). In this video, I am using Dr. Ph Martin Bombay inks with a dip pen. Thanks for watching and commenting🌻🦄

Wonderful sketchbook and stories you shared Holly.!! Glad you could process some degrees of traumas through art. That has been a life saver for me many times.!! Thanks for being on front lines as a nurse. Most nurses I have had in hospitals have been so overworked and do most of daily care for patients. Covid-19 must have been grim at its height. It has not gone away still. Take care and vent with art !!! Friend from Ontario Canada 🍁 😊❤❤. Thanks to NURSES and doctors and PSWS, Hospital staff and Support Care staff everywhere!!

I have not watched this video in some time, but i remember it was a bit of a struggle thru this period (i don't think i went into detail, but I had a breakdown the summer of 2021. i took a 3 month medical leave and cried the whole time--so much built up emotion needed to be released). Strong memories. Sorry about the sound quality, i remember i wanted to get a microphone for the voice-overs, but i could not decide on what to get (and i still can't make a decision to this day--which, even i can't believe!😅). God bless your day, Ann, may it be a good one for you💝 Stay strong and persevere.🫶🌻

Thanks so much my friend Holly..I will not go into details but pray nightly for strength and hope. The nights are the worst as you might know from nursing home and anxieties and monsters that lurk in the silence of the night. I used to like being awake at night and worked on an art show all done at night listening to a jazz station. 😊. The paintings were colorfield abstracts that looked like mosaics. Total change from usual realist waterscapes. Maybe I will have energy to play with sketchbook again!! I used to do cartoons as well. Monsters. 😂. Take care. ❤😊 Ann

Holly if you are still a nurse that would be sobering and difficult. With my aging and health issues alone I really appreciate the fun in your art. I was doing a small art journal for physio..MY good hand went numb...and now I can use again but morning physiotherapy exercises for balance and strength leave me pooped out so I get to rest watching YOU TUBE ..you are the best Holly.!!! ❤😊. I care for my residents very much but was helpless during that time. Art was therapy for me. I am sorry you are having so many health issues. Holly!-Why are you so insanely talented!? I am in genuine AWE of your skill and this is NO SMOKE-all truth! Also, I emailed you but please disregard the fact that my video was up, because my “testimony” stayed up for all of two hours before I actually rewatched and YANKED it off the internet forever, lol… I realized I had done a horrible job and because it was filmed under self-imposed pressure, it came out sounding more like a morbid listing of what a heinous person I was in the past than a testimony of my changed heart and love and faith. Ugh. I am a TERRIBLE you tuber😂 You, however, are an AMAZING you tuber AND an amazing artist. Thank you for ALL the beauty you bring to the world-we NEED you!!🫶🏻

This sketchbook is amazing. I find your style ever intriguing and inspiring and while I doubt I could have the patience and sticktuitiveness to draw alll the details you do so beautifully, I sure do respect it! Question for you -did you ever read a graphic novel called Maus I or Maus 2? It was the story of the Halocaust, as if the mice were the participants. I read it probably 30 years ago and found it to be enormously impactful…obviously I had family in the camps, but it was more than that-graphic novels are so amazing at bringing you right into the story. Your work is so so fitting for that and I can’t wait to buy your novel when it’s done!!! I also want to ask you about other things you mentioned here but I won’t in the comments🫣 (also, from your last video-I pray your thyroid biopsy was negative 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I had mine ablated and suffered my whole life from chronic stress and anxiety and it impacted my thyroid and finally broke it, literally)…if your ever interested in me sharing with you about some ways the Lord was able to heal my anxiety-& it wasn’t hard-it just took some me putting into practice certain ways of thinking and curating my thoughts-and trusting Him with ALL and recognizing it’s ALL out of my hands and COMPLETELY in His!! I would love to share with you!!! It’s nothing you have to buy or study and it’s something I could tell you about iin like 20 minutes!! Given how you’re able to put in those amazing tiny details and be so disciplined with that, I’m certain some amount of taking those really scary thoughts captive and giving them up to Jesus would be a walk in the park for you!!! 😍😍Anyway, maybe one day! Again I’m so glad you’re making videos again! I have so much to learn from watching you paint and how you use color and I just couldn’t love your work more!!! @Temmah_tjJc Hi Temmah! Wow, that is an action-packed comment, lot's of stuff in there! I did read Maus 1 and 2. Just like you, it was decades ago. Recently, I tried to get my son interested in reading it because it was being featured at our local library, but sadly, he declined (because he is "only into Manga right now"☹️). I really love graphic memoirs. My biopsy was benign, but they have to keep an eye on it because of the size of irregular shape of the nodules. I am going to be out of town this weekend, but when I get back, I will email you so we can chit chat, not in the comments section 😅
