They quietly demolished that church. The Holy Spirit was prominent inside that church. Felt it many a time.

I grew up on Main St. in the North End and a boyhood friend and I used to set pins in the basement of one of the buildings in the St Peters complex. I don't recall which building had bowling alleys in the basement but I presume it was the rec center. This was the 1950s and the pins not automatic, they were reset manually by teens. I didn't dare tell my mom what I was doing because my family were baptist. It was bad enough that I had catholic buddies but to actually go onto the church property was an absolute no-no. It's one reason I'm now a pantheist. I'm very sorry they felt it necessary to demolish the church.

Hi Mike, thank you for this great Video. I was out on my Motorcycle two months ago, came down to the Cemetery and McLarens beach, I wondered if I might link your video in my comments section as a reference to the beach and the Cemetery, my wife loves the stories in cemetery's, we often find our way to one.

I'm discovering this video October 25,2024. I was born here in Saint John, N.B. and grew up in these areas. Mother nature, ironically, we have been having an "Indian summer" as we have had many locals experiencing homelessness after many immigrants migrated here. The inflation and unnecessary actions of government enforcement have been needing a more authentic honest open communication to ensure equal human rights, respect, education for vitality in nutritional agriculture, family and general human relations with a more balanced cost of living to fare with earnings over all persons of all ages, single adult or family household dynamics considerations. Healing and respecting individuals ability in doing so a therapeutic holistic manner is achieved. God Blessed, continued prayers for peace, forgiveness, gratitude for quality of life caring with dignity and praise the Lord, in Jesus name Amen My prayers to end the homelessness before the winter season and that mother nature continues with warmer temperatures for anyone in need of adequate housing. Community matters especially when we need to raise awareness of those who have been mistreated, neglected or disregarded with faulty bias opinions and inaccurate information. Encouragement, patience, acts of kindness do help and are free in giving humanity a greater purpose to share. Thank goodness for God is great and loves you more! ✌️❤🙏🫒🌄🌈🌏⚘️🕊🕊

Hello, sorry you lost it but at least you know exactly where it is. unfortunately this was the only time I have been to this location and I don't live nearby, so have no plans on returning. You should reach out to one of the NB dive groups on Facebook and maybe someone from the Moncton area can help you out.

Thanks for the video, while watching, so many happy memories came rushing back! As a youngster in the 1950's, we neighbourhood kids would take the ferry from Charlottetown over to Rocky Point so that we could spend the afternoon jumping and diving off the wharf. We were all around 10 years old at the time and our parents were apparently comfortable allowing us to do so unaccompanied, the only stipulation being that we had to be home by suppertime! It was a different era and Charlottetown was an idyllic place in which to grow up. How times have changed!

I believe a local historian Harold Wright found this location about 30 or more years ago (probably not the first to know about it), I went to UNBSJ at the same time as he did and we were both in the same history class, European Expansionism taught by Professor Hawkes (RIP) in 1979. Thanks for the video I knew about this place through Harold but had never been there.

Thanks for recording this video. I remember this church from my childhood and am sad to see that they chose to demolish it.. My grandfather used to play for the Saint Peter's Maples in the 1920s and played at the baseball field that you also showed. My father and his family attended the church when they grew up. I am glad that at least some of the old structures are still left on the old site. I will be back in Saint John soon to take my children there at the end of the summer. Again, thank you for your time and effort putting this together for all to see.

My great-grandfather, Jack Perry, his mother was a McLaren. My grandfather lived in one of the houses that used to be on the beach, in the ‘40’s…when he was born. My mom has the documents stating they came in from England via ship and landed at McLarens beach. Walked their belongings up and down Sand Cove rd, until deciding to settle on the beach. I was there today and even found a fossil. One of my happy places and makes me feel connected to ancestors!

Many many years ( decades) ago there was a cement plant up river from the bridge that had a breach into the river decimating the salmon population. My Dad used to catch salmon in this river almost as long as our picnic table in the early 80’s .
