They barely mentioned their families outside the hospital. We didn’t see her reaction of him dying or with her grandchildren

Meredith wasn’t really cold like Cristina,the first seasons she was sweet she had her issues with her family but she always acted like a positive person with Izzie,George,Alex and Cristina so I don’t think Izzie wanted so much to change her I think she wanted her to be more open with strange people like she was with her friends

@@hannacal8347 Yeah I totally see that now and I can find the first meeting funny where Izzie reminds her to smile and all that, that part I get because I probably would've done the same thing if my best friend is meeting her boyfriend's mother for the first time. But the part I don't like is when Derek's mother walks away and izzie shakes her head in disappointment as if shaming her and not respecting mer's decision to be herself. I get what you mean but just in this last scene if it were me I'd go make my friend feel better and comfort her instead of making her feel worse than what she's probably already feeling.

Yeah izzy was extra annoying in this episode. Like why are you trying to make your friend try so hard? Why do you care? but I’ve also never been an Izzy fan. Like every season until she left was unbearable when her face popped up. Alex deserved better and then they make Alex leave Jo (the love of his life) to go be with Izzy.

They have mentioned that they use these connections in casting...

I guess I can kind of see it. She's a powerhouse, practical and strong, and she might find it hard to understand what looks like flakiness or someone as emotional as Amelia. They are very different.

Amelia and he r im had that conversation, it’s in the details. Pretty much Amelia is so much like her father, and it’s hard for her mom to handle, which is why she has always kept Amelia at a distance and blamed the addiction and her behavior on why

Addison is being a doctor here not being a wife. She’s doing this for the patient. Derek and Addison have different opinions and Meredith decided to side with Derek. Meredith doesn’t know anything here she’s a freaking resident.

If raising a doctor is the measure of how good a parent you are then Ellis Grey was a wonderful mother too. I don't think what your kid does for a living is the best test for how good a parent you are. Derek's mom did seem better than Meredith's but she had her weaknesses and blind spots too.

Boys always have a special place in their mother's heart, just like girls have a special place in their dad's heart. And Derek _was_ her only son so I'm not surprised she treated him better than his sisters.
