Egg Arc was definitely the beginning of the end The entire event was essentially everyone taking their turns to make a massive twist that I barely cared about until technoblade came in and started killing people and then the entire plot was over All the other events had massive fights and a mind control war could be cool af in a lot of different ways but it took all of like 3 people and they died in seconds or ran So in short Techno MVP

6:22 You dont need to disect their sentences. That's just overdoing. Speedsilver's story telling is just as good. Not a fan. But you seem like a hater by disecting one sentence he said and turning it against him.

I don't know if you'll see this but I've had a lot of these thoughts for a while. Every team in a civilisation video just seemed really savage and only really out to get the other teams before I realised it was just the admin pointing everyone to it. There was little to no diplomacy or friendly relations between each faction on top of your points of them having little-to-no desire of doing anything or having really any objectives to complete. Its cool watching each new build-up of a new base but having them go to war for no choice of their own definitely seemed artificial. Not only Minecraft but ARK Civilisation videos as well had that exact same problem. It's good you're showing praise for ish and I really do hope other people looking into making this type of content implements world and maybe faction objectives in a more seamless way and give the players a lot more agency.

It just kind of shows that if enough people were in a civilization, sooner or later a "villain" will appear, someone who in the eyes of the majority, is a bad person

ive always notcied this to, player driven sotry arcs are alwasy better because they actualyl have the ability to be emtional since theirs a since of attchment either to thier "home" or relationships and player made goverments are alwasy better since goverments are a social constcut and its more intresting to see how power dynamics work when theyre not fully backed by "now pick a leader" its so mcuh more raw and real, its mroe emcaptivating to see the way players recognize nations even when the power of nations are based on the players recognizing its leadership.

Another problem with other civ videos is that while Ish looks at nations and people from the perspective of a God watching over people, other civ creators put themselves into the worlds. This severely limits their ability to tell stories as you only get stuff from one perspective, theirs. You can only root for them because, other than allies, they're the only ones you really get to know. Its biased storytelling. Ish looks at every nation, every group and every significant player, allowing you to really see what's going on, not just what's happening to this one guy. Just making the whole video so much more fun to watch.

The true main flaw I see with this series is that they never give anyone the spotlight. What I mean is the main center of attention, make everyone look at someone else instead of looking at the person who made the video. This is something I only realized after watching (some) lifesteal videos. I really don't care to know who any of these people are, like Fundy or the guy with the totem skin (see? I even forgot their names, some I don't even recognize), but with lifesteal? I had been checking out the channels of some of the people that star on the videos, and that is how I get to know them. I don't think the writing on Lifesteal is as good as what Wilbur provided to DreamSMP, but it's slowly getting there, and I really think Lifesteal or other SMPs could greatly benefit by introducing some youtubers who specialize in story telling and that's their main content. People like Zeemyth. Also, a lot of these people are just really bad writers, and like you said it made no sense in plot for them to talk normally

I don’t think the KZbinrs creating personas/characters going against their real life personalities is one of the fundamental flaws that lead to the downfall. I think freedom is vital for writing. You could argue that making characters contrasting themselves IRL adds dimension due to contradiction. I think what failed the SMP is the lack of a understanding the fundamentals that bring a bunch of subplots together, to paraphrase Robert Mckee, “if you don’t have a subplot that contradicts or resonates the controlling idea, if it doesn’t complicate the main story or set up the main story’s inciting incident, if it merely runs alongside the story, it will destory its effects.” I am sure there were other flaws but I think there were so many subplots that failed what Robert McKee said that it destroyed the SMP, making the only story interesting being the original story(DREAM vs. Tommy) and Technoblade subplot since his plot complicated the “main” plot. That’s all.

>subaru and homura nah, they also have plot armor, specially homura after rebellion
@ChunkyNosher15 күн бұрын
nah, the entire premise of Re:Zero is that Subaru remains one of the weakest characters in the series, having to use social engineering to survive and forcing his character to grow as a result, and while saying Homura has plot armor is more understandable, my own theory on why Homura was able to do what she did in Rebellion was because she never got her wish granted. The one exchange that needs to happen when one becomes a magical girl is to have their wish granted, which was fulfilled by everyone in the series except Homura, where she was unable to protect Madoka because she transcended reality to rewrite the system that makes magical girls witches, but at the cost of being written out of existence. To circumvent this, Homura was able to break some rules to get her wish fulfilled, because like I said, that HAS to happen for one to become a magical girl. And also, Homura acting the way she did wasn't entirely out of character; she was already pretty jaded and indifferent to everyone except Madoka, who she was excessively obsessed over. By the time of Rebellion, she already fell into despair, so I think it's at the very least plausable and understandable why she did what she did. Sorry for long explanation lol
