This is software for setting up the options of a Kenwood THD74 radio. This let's you do the work from the computer rather than from the buttons on the radio. Most folks find that easier. Hope thus helps you understand.

I have one correction for your excellent video. In order to use different colors for all of your memories and to select different colors for call, left, right, and air vfo bands you have to change COLOR MODE to MEMORY. The "ALL" setting in color mode allows only one color for standby, rx and tx that is applied to every setting. So, set color mode to "memory" to get full color functionality of memories and VFO. To set VFO left, right, AIR and call you must click on the Call-VFO Channels tab at the bottom of the screen. Set color mode in settings/radio.menu.settings at the top of the screen. Hope this helps someone figure out this awesome radio.

Great video‼️ Will the RT Software on Apples iPad OS or Mac OS❓❓
@kthompson21553 жыл бұрын
We currently have dozens of programmers available for Mac OS. I am including a link with the available Mac programmers. www.rtsystemsinc.com/RT-Programmers-for-the-Mac_ep_427-1.html and unfortunately the programmers will not work on an iPad .

Is there a way to buy the software directly from your site and send me the activation key via email? Thanks
@kthompson21554 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Find the radio you want through selection of the Manufacturer, type and model. Once on that page, select the software only option. Answer a few questions during the add to cart process and complete payment (you will have to complete ship to information... the page cannot discern the software only sale and requires this information although nothing is being shipped to you). The link for the download is sent to your e-mail. Download of the installation files is completed using the order number and e-mail address. The serial number is retrieved from the page from which you download the programmer you purchased. Let us know if you have other questions.

do you really have to have the transceiver turned on to fill in the programming information also where to you plug in the programming cable on the radio end
@theduck50194 жыл бұрын
No, you can play around with the radio setup without even having a radio, and save the file. You only need the radio (turned on), to read from it, or program it. The programming lead plugs into one of the external speaker jacks, the one nearest the fan. Good luck, Andy G8IPA

Thanks for the video. Here in New York City we have no D-Star repeaters. So we have to use Hotspots. I enter reflectors in the D-Star settings to the column to the right where you enter your callsign and text message and use that to input reflectors. Maybe you can create a video for those of us who use hotspots? 73 from N2LRB.

Just purchased the software to program my FT2DR and am amazed that in the operating mode column I only have the choice between FM and AM. What about DN? It is a digital radio, after all. Any ideas?
@kthompson21555 жыл бұрын
What you are seeing in the program is how the radio is designed. DN is a global setting that cannot be saved as part of the details for a memory channel. You should maybe ask Yaesu why they designed the radio that way. We do have a solution... Assign all your DN memories to Bank 1 and all your regular memories to Bank 2 (that is done in the programmer easily by just checking the box for the bank in the memory channel... just a mouse click gets it done). Then on the face of the radio, make the top part of the display work Bank 1 and the bottom part of the display work Bank 2 (See page 63 in your manual for the radio for recalling memory banks... too much to detail here). Then set the top portion of the radio to DN mode. All the channels contained there will operate DN mode without interference to your FM stations that are being used in the bottom portion of the display. You don't have to turn DN on and off for each repeater that way... it's just on for all of them in the bank. Those that have used the radio this way find it works well especially when they have lots of DN memories. Let us know if you have questions. Personal tech support is available at 800-921-4834. We'll be glad to answer your questions about how that radio works relative to what you see in the program. Other operating questions would best be directed to Yaesu at 714-827-7600.

Thanks for the information. At least I now know that the software I have downloaded is as intended.
@kthompson21554 жыл бұрын
Design of the radio. If it were available it would be there. That feature is not available until the FT-3D. Now, for suggestions... Separate your digital only memory channels into a bank by checking the box for say Bank 1 and put your FM only channels into another bank say Bank 2. This is done easily by checking the box for the desired bank for a particular channel. Once you program your radio, set Band A (top) to one of the two banks and Band B (bottom) to the other. Engage the proper digital mode for all the channels on Band A or Band B (whichever you put them on) Now you are ready to do FM on one band and Digital on the other.

The content was good but the resolution is deplorably bad. They've had 1080p available on KZbin for several years now so your use of this lowest level resolution for a video where the viewer is trying to read detailed tables on the screen is inexcusable. Please re-render this in high definition so that it's usable by your customers. That way, folks can appreciate the great content that was included. 73 de Robert K3RRR

I couldn't agree more Robert. RT Systems make great programming tools you'd think that they could at least make a decent video that people could actually see. It's clear that they're not interested in doing so as they didn't even respond to your message and it's been two years.

Dstar repeaters are not reliable in my area. How can I use this software to work with my ZumSpot?
@af4k6 жыл бұрын
150 subscribers and zero comments. Wow. HOW can we get the files? I am reading horror stories of guys buying RFfinder and it doesn't work on Windows! (BUT they don't tell you that!) I need files like theirs or RadioReference, but what a hassle. To use RT systems to program my radios. I have the RT Systems program installed OK and working, but the instructions for getting DATA FILES to program into the radio is SCANT to say the least! I guess I will call RT systems since there is very little help that makes sense to me on line.
@kthompson21555 жыл бұрын
Nothing sent to you because this channel is generally not monitored. I hope you did call or that you checked the video on our site in the How To Videos that detail RFinder specifically. Start at External Data in the programmer and go from there. No need to create an external file to handle through import. The program does it all for you with the ability to manipulate the data in the programmer even before you create and customize the file for the radio. If you still have not gotten your radio up and running with all the repeater information you want.... call for personal attention 1-800-921-4834. We believe working in person with you is so much better. We're there to help.

See this how to here... www.rtsystemsinc.com/kb_results.asp?ID=288 Similar information in the basic help for the programmer. See Help| Memory channels then once in the help file select External Data Interfaces. Although based on the older search routine, the process is the same. Looks like you've had details available at your fingertips all along. Hope this helps. Let us know if there are other questions.
